Tires that won't squeeeeel?

I currently have yoko AVS ES100's on my car in 235/45/17 size. A big part of why i like these tires is they don't make ANY squeeling noise when cornering ultra-hard, slamming on the brakes etc. Now that I am spoiled, I now need a new set of tires for my car. I want to avoid these tires in the future as their sidewalls are too weak for my taste, and they only lasted 10k.....

I need to know any tires that would fit that are squeel free that still have good grip. I need a summer only tire, no snow in south texas.....

Thanks!

J

i use to have those tires as well...i noticed they were very quiet when cornering hard...you couldn't tell when they would break traction, u know? but i was pretty satisfied with the awesome grip they had....they were definitely terrible in terms of tread life...

Agreed on the treadlife comment, but yeah, love the quiet corners. Anybody ever had any other tire than this be able to take a 100% corner with no noise? (squeeel)

It frustrates me that you really can't find anyone review a tire on this aspect..... its been impossible to find out via tire guys even....

Guaranteed not to squeal and strongest sidewall you can find.

If that's overkill then try Azenis, BFG KD/KDWS, or the Advan.

Squealings bad when taking a tight corner on the street. i like to drive briskly and attract little attention. If you turn a corner at 20 and your tires squeel, you can be pulled over much easier......besides the po po leese, i also don't want everybody freaking out and turning heads just because i feel like using my eibachs a little....

so...FYI.

and Size, Model, miles??? DETAILS!

BEJAY.....HAHAHA, you're right, i need the hooosiers. FTW!

Good call.

Seriously tho, i drive this to work everyday. So I'll be sure to check out your suggestions..... I'm trying to push for a 280 treadwear and up quiet tire.

In my research thusfar, the lower the treadwear rating, the lower the squeel. YAY results! Bad news for anyone with a budget, and my "fine" tire tastes. Anyhow, FYI the ES100s are 280 treadwear and silent! I'll be sure to check out the rest.

Looks like I may end up with another set of yokos tho.... they seriously seem to be the best bang for the buck at about 110 a tire....

The only time I've gotten any noise out of my Toyo's is when the tire pressure is too low. My T1-S and now the T1-R have never squealed. They're pricey, though.

thanks for the input everyone. Just so you know, research complete, i ended up getting the yoko es 100s again. $520 out the door at discount killer deal! Those toyos are pricey =) but maybe i'll save up and buy a set next time. \\
Thx again everyone, but as a conclusion I'm a have to say es 100s are FTW.

I never had a brand new set before, but now that I have I have even more respect for this tire. Fantastic squeel free grip!

my size: 235-45-r17

oooooh, the ASXs, i was sooo close to getting those instead of the es100s

I'll have to try them next then, cuz that was the only reason i didn't. I didn't have a no squeel garuntee

so yeah, that will definately be my next set, they look like great tires!

thx

Squeeling is the tire slipping, if the tires are not squeeling, they are not slipping. That means the tires are sticking. Try going faster and getting them to break completely loose and I'm sure they scream.

are you kidding me, the T1R squeals all the time....and at an early stage, but I like that, they are very communicative...the thing is just because they squeal, doesn't mean they are inducing any slip angle whatsoever, for example they are not even close to the limit if squealing, you can literally go back and add on 50% more speed through the same corner and it will just squeal as loud and pitch but still hold the line perfectly...

the falken azenis are crazy grippy and generally non-squealing, but they won't last you at all! the only thing that won't squeal is a true slick dot r compound...even the treaded ones will make some noices such as my ra-1's that I had...

Yup, proxes 4 do not squeal at their normal slip angle.

My Hankook K104's don't seem to squeel too much...

Why is that such a big issue tho? If it's that big of a deal you need slicks...haha!

Don't the 4th gen's ABS activate prematurely? I get the feeling I could brake deeper w/o ABS; but no doubt, ABS helps in emergency situations.

stay away from the falken 512s if you don't want squeel. i hate that about mine...the wear is decent and the traction is pretty good too. in my mind a good tire for the dollar. 245/45-18 cost me $425 to my door. I am looking for the same thing...a quiet tire so that people don't stare me down because i pushed the car a bit in a corner! i may have to try the es 100 or the asx's. friend has the proxes 4 and he's pretty happy with them too.
