pics of my RSA's

if you've got a weak stomach, you might not want to look at this.....

(kidding, of course)

Two different tire shops have said that only two of my tires are defective. The Left Front (LF) and Right Rear (RR) ... looks to me like all four are bad.

"defective?" Those look extremely f***ed up to me! Best be under warranty still!

irish44j Sep 27, 2006 02:41 PM

look like someone doesn't like you and slashed them to me :gotme:

nah. just the goodyear quality at it's best... that's all. the cracks aren't all the way through.. I can still drive on it (for now)

CCS2k1Max Sep 28, 2006 06:03 AM

I wouldn't drive to the corner store on those POS tires, especially that bottom right one. What do the inside sidewalls look like? Betcha they are worse.

Ritz Sep 28, 2006 06:13 AM

I can't see/feel anything on the inside of the tires... but that doesn't mean there's nothing there..

Jim C Sep 28, 2006 09:18 PM

Just had 2 Bridgestone Potenza RE960/AS put on my car today and the tire dude says wow look at the cracks on your sidewalls (RSA's) had a few slices like ones on the outside and some big cracks on the insides just like the ones in the pics. The sad part is the other two still have a fair amount of tread left but I'm freak'in cause one of them has the 'slice' so I'm gonna be buying 2 more tires very soon I guess.Anyone ever had a blowout from these side cracks?

By the way tire dealer called Goodyear and were told "we've never heard of that problem before"
the lyin bastards !

cefiro8701 Sep 28, 2006 10:41 PM

from my experience...

i'm almost positive that someone just slashed the fucc outta ur tires...

or by some strange reason they were over inflated...

practically ticking time-bombs.

samito Sep 29, 2006 03:25 AM

hey thats a common defect on the rsa on maxima -----go to a gdyr location ----they should warranty them

4MySwee Sep 29, 2006 10:26 AM

Goodyear denies any knowledge of their shoddy RSA's. Who's next, the Nhsta? Firestone ring a bell to anyone?

Nathan Sep 29, 2006 12:15 PM

My '99 came with 16" RSA's from the factory & I had 1 bubble on me.

I bought a set of used 17" RSA's (b/c they came with '00 rims) and 1 tire started to crack excessively from the inner sidewall, to the point where air could be heard leaking out. These tires are sh!t.

4MySwee Sep 30, 2006 04:26 AM

Ritz,
after reading this thread it made me wonder, have you checked the inside of your tires? If the outside is so nasty, what might the inside hold?

Just a thought,
Swee

cefiro8701 Sep 30, 2006 11:40 PM

pshh...my two year old champiros look like friggen crocodile hide.

04BlackMaxx Oct 1, 2006 05:56 AM

I had it happen too...

Ritz Oct 1, 2006 08:53 AM

and Nissan and Goodyear both say there's no problem.. one of them needs to fess up and fix the problem before the tires cause someone to get hurt..

04BlackMaxx Oct 1, 2006 04:02 PM

Mine were replaced under warrenty, I ended up with a set of F1s for less than half of what they cost after driving 30,000 on the RSAs that cracked, so goodyear made good on it.

4MySwee Oct 3, 2006 05:35 AM

So Ritz, what's the latest with these tires?

Anyone else have photos to post? I am going to open a complaint with NHSTA, and they will force a Goodyear recall if there is enough folks fussing about these! Please let me know, including those of you that had to replace your old RSA's. Dates and Mileage that was on your car at the time!

Swee

Any takers? I'm willing to do the leg work y'all! What happened to all those stories of tires gone bad?

NisMoN00B Oct 5, 2006 05:15 AM

 It's just the BEAUTIFUL Raleigh potholes doing their job.

Ritz Oct 6, 2006 07:50 AM

well, the previous owner of my car had it registered in Hawaii. I've never had any problems here :P

dvcamp Oct 9, 2006 01:30 PM

I got a problem as well...

I only have 17,000 miles on my '04. I have severe cracks/splits on the right and left front tires. I was told by a Goodyear in Cincinnati, Ohio that it appears that the cracks are stress related. He attributed it to the tires not being rotated. They have been rotated!!! I don't know where to turn. I was quoted a price of $300.00 after the 50% pro-rated cost. I am PI$$ED! Any suggestions?

I would post my pics but cannot due to the tread rules.

Ritz Oct 10, 2006 12:03 AM

just host it/them on imageshack and link to them..

sidewall cracks don't come from not rotating tires.. tell them they're a bunch of idiots.. if they believe that then they shouldn't be laying a finger on anyone else's tires.. don't let the "pros" feed you BS to get money out of you..

on the other hand, yeah, they're gonna pro-rate the tires... I'm looking at about $240 for a whole set of Yokohama Advan S4's.

Ritz Oct 10, 2006 09:17 AM

so back when I started this thread, I had ordered tires from a local Goodyear/Juts Tires shop... not Goodyear tires though, don't worry.. anyway.. they told me it'd take about two weeks to get them in.. seemed long, but whatever.. so, now it's been about 16 days so I called to check on them.. the guy said "two weeks?!" like that was some crazy time frame.. then said that if they weren't picked up by the end of the month, they would have been shipped back.. all this time I'm driving on the safety of the tires in the pics in post #1. if they did come in, I don't know why they couldn't have called me to let me know.. that'd be the smart thing to do...

4MySwee Oct 10, 2006 09:23 AM

One more way Goodyear impresses me..........

04BlackMaxx Oct 11, 2006 06:05 AM

I gotta say though, in spite of the problems with the RSA's, the Goodyear F1s have been on my car for 34,000 miles, all wore pretty evenly, and none had any problem, no flats, no leaks, nothing.

4MySwee Oct 11, 2006 12:44 PM

I used the Regattas on my minivans, but with the max, OEM, not impressed.

aaa99max Oct 14, 2006 10:58 PM

that looks sick. get some pirelli's, the best tires hands down
