A: Spacers
B: Pound the dust cap in
C: Leave it off, maybe paint the dust cap

babymac Oct 3, 2006 05:17 PM

Maybe I'll just cut the clip part off the caps and glue them on the rim??

thanks guys for the opinions.

btw do you guys like the wheels??

Get a further back shot of the wheels. They look fine w/o the caps though, I would paint the dust caps though.

BRINKLEY Oct 3, 2006 06:50 PM

yeah, I would say paint the dust covers black.

Black? Huh not silver? Maybe black would be better.

I've got the exact same problem, as my center caps won't fit with my G35 18's unless I buy spacers, which is too much $$$ just to have center caps. I just left 'em off...

Well guys here's what happen I got some tunner bolts because the stock one s don't fit and today i go to take them off and all of my studs break! Thats right broke right the f off. Now I need all new studs on all four tires. The to top it all off I somehow f'ed my right shock up putting the lowering spring on so now it makes all kinds of noise whenI hit bumps. I've done this at least 10 times and never had problem like this. I'm getting it towed and letting the shop fix everything, I just can't take the aggrevation no more.

I quit............ :(

btw i find out that nissan studs are 12mmX1.25 and thats exactly the tuner bolt size i had. I am now completely confused???? Why the hell would they brake either tightened with a rachet or air gun.

Oh those are nice!!

Are you sure the wheel was sitting flush on the rotors/hub? I had the same thing happen in the rear (broken studs, covers wouldn't fit even w/ dust caps removed) because the wheel was not sitting flush against the rear hub. I had to add a spacer in order for everything to line up correctly.

Yeah everything was flush. I've come to the conclusion that they have to be taken off straight with probably a air gun or t wrench becuase any othe way your putting pressure on one side of the nut, which will cause it to strip and get stuck and SNAP. I'm buyiing a air gun. The guy at the shop the car went to took all the rear ones off without any problem so it must be the way I was taking them off (breaker bar). You live and learn.......I guess.

It just seems like everytime I do something something goes wrong.

SilverGLE Oct 5, 2006 05:50 PM

^ That shouldn't happen.... You should be able to remove your lugs without the use of an air gun. If you can't use your emergency jack equipment, then something isn't right.

GBAUER Oct 5, 2006 06:15 PM

the lugs were over-tightened the last time they were put on.

babymac Oct 6, 2006 09:27 AM

Everybody keeps telling me that shouldn't have happened and that the gun put them on to tight. I'm telling you I put them on myself and then tried to remove them with a rachet and it would start to come off and then get stuck and then break off! Their the right size and no they aren't over tightened. They just have to be taken off straight. I'm not touching them unless i have to for now on.

Anyway the car is good now and the springs are on too. I'll be posting some pics when the weather clears and I can clean her up.
