Bulging Bubble's on 2 Of My Tires..How They Get There, and What I Do?

I took off my summer rims and i noticed i have 2 bubbles on 2 of my tires, they are on the side of the tire, not the top, maybe the size of a tennis ball. The rims dont look bent or anything, and this is my second year using these tires, last year i had no problems. Anyone know what can cause a bubble to form on a tire? And is their anything i can do to fix them? Tires are Pilot Sport Ps2, 18" HP Evo Rims.

You probably hit a pot hole or some other "road hazard" and weakened the sidewall at the point of contact. I did this to one of my Bridgestonze Potenza S-03's on my G35 18" and Bridgestone wouldn't do crap for me except say SOL. You can't fix the tire, the only "repair" is replacement.

As he said, replacement is the only way to go and hopefully, you bought road hazard insurance to offset the hit. PS2s aren't cheap.

what happened was somehow the sidewall got damaged and the bands that form the sidewall got seperated and allowed air to get through to the outter rubber layer. this can also be due to a manaufacturing error in the tire. but yea, they are done. there is no fix for them.

alright thanks for the info guys, i dont have that the road hazard insurance on them, and now i have to get a total of 3 new tires since my other one popped when i hit a pot hole. This only happens on low profile tires right? These tires are becoming a problem, i already replaced one last year when i hit another pot hole and the tire popped, might have to go with the all season tires now.

It can happen with any size tire, it's just with higher-profile tires you have more sidewall and air to take the "hits."

our volvo has a bubble in 1 of its tires. they are 17'' and low profile. Are yours low profiles? they usually get the bubbles. It can be dangerous with bubbles but the past 2 yrs nothing has happened to us. They are usually caused by pot holes.

I would definitely get those tires replaced because you keep driving on those, bubbles will get bigger
