falken fk452 vs toyo t1-r's
 

Hey guys, I was thinking of getting the proxes t1-r's for the max. So I called a few places and found out they are damn expensve up here in the great white north. 1100 including taxes and installation was the best price. But one place recommended that I get the falken fk-452's. He said they were a much better tire than the toyo's and cheaper by a few hundred. What do you guys think?

I have the falken 512's.
I decided one this tire after reading many reviews about many different tires. I checked for the reviews on 1010tires.ca. Great source and you can check the prices on there website.
My only complaint... and I'm not sure if it's a valid one as I've NEVER had low profile tires before (225/40/18) is that the side wall gives its life with any kind of curbing. I messed up 2 rims... one I bent and one just needs polishing, but I've destroyed 2 sidewalls. Massive tears right down to the polyester (or whatever material the sidewall is constructed of) and then the tire is junk.
The Falkens I like... predictable cornering, great at highway speeds, quiet. A+ traction in the rain. So much better than any all-season tire I have used and the 512 is rated as an "M+S" tire.
I don't know how they do in the winter. I wouldn't leave my rims on in the winter anyway.

I paid 175 a tire when I bought 4 brand new so that's about 750 tax in. I have a guy who mounted/balanced them for a case of beer which I made sure he drank after :)

Toyo T1-R is more of a high performance tire...I notice everywhere you go, they will charge more for Toyo T1-R in the size same...Falken FK-452 is more of a luxury VIP tire...I believe its design more for comfort and reliability than sheer grip...

with that said, I say go for whichever one suits your budget and your performance needs...

I have the t1r's, id have to say the grip is amazing. but like steven said it all depends on your needs.

I would have to agree with this. I have the FK-452 and I <3 them! They have good grip, minimal road noise and are rated with better traction in wet than dry...:hide: lol I actually looked into the Toyo's that you are talking about, but ended up going with the Falken's just because.

Like always, Falken is a great "bang for buck" tire!

toyo t1r is more in like with the falken rt615..

The Toyo Proxes T1-R is little grippier, especially in the wet. The Falken FK452 is significantly quieter and still more than grippy enough for the street. Neither is "better" than the other. It's all about priorities.


The Falken Ziex ZE-512 is a budget all-season tire and is not comparable. Neither is the Falken Azenis RT-615, which is a noisy, hard-riding, short-lived, track-oriented tire that is scary in the wet and absolutely dominates in the dry.

The Toyo T1R is not as good as a Falken Azenis by any means. But the Toyo T1R is a high performance tire and meant to grip well, were as the Falken 452 is meant for quiet and comfort it does grip well but just not as well as the Toyo T1R.

The treadwear on the azenis is high and in rain they are terrbile.

oh very true the Azenis are a dry weather tire only (really a auto x tire), but they have no life. They arent meant for long last effects they are for traction were as the T1R's last long and grip well and are good wet weather and dry weather.
