Evo 8 wheels on a max. how to make them fit?
I just picked up a set of Evo 8 wheels for my 4th gen. I know they fit because they are 17x8 with a +38 offset. My questions are about the lugnuts and the centering rings. What lug nuts do you use to make these wheels fit? Some guy in the fourth gen section was talking about using a different style lug nut then putting washers under them. I am going to be using these for auto crossing so I want them to be on as good if not better than my current wheels. My next question is about the hub bore. What size is it on the Evo wheels? I do not have a caliper to measure this. I know the maxima is 66.1mm, what is the evo? Any other helpful hints are appreciated. Oh, also will nissan center caps fit in place of the Mitsubishi caps?

Carson, you should be able to check the hub bore easily. Just take the center cap off one of the wheels, and put it up on your hub. If the part of the hub that sticks out is snug on the Evo wheels, you don't need rings.
As to the lug nuts....what thread/pitch do the Evos use? Maxima is 12x1.25 IIRC.... If Evos use the same size, just get some stock Evo lugnuts and they should work fine with the wheels.

here's some info I found
Mitsubishi Evolution
Bolt Circle 5x114.3
Hub Bore 67mm
Stud Thread Pitch 12x1.5
So...I'm not sure how much difference that 1mm of bore size really makes
Since the lugs have a different pitch on the evo, you will probably need to find some Nissan-fitting lugnuts that have the same seat shape as the OEM evo nuts.

thanks for that, that's what I am trying to figure out too. Since these will just be track wheels for the time being I am not going to worry about such a small difference in hub bore. I really don't know if you can get adaptors in that small of increments. Does any one know what style lug nuts evo use? Or a link to some that would work on a fouth gen maxima with evo wheels?

I just posted in this thread in 4th gen. The OP is talking about using short shank lug nuts with washers. I REALLY do not want to use washers. That does not even sound close to being safe. Does anyone know of lug nuts that will fit with out washers?
Does any one know why the OP in that thread was even using washers?

2) I did not say "any more stress". I wondered if there would be stress to the lugs if the gap is 0.45 mm and the wheel is not centered on the hub.

the hub bore is really there to center the wheel while the lugnuts are loose.
if you take care to make sure the wheel is centered when you tighten the lugs, and then make sure to re-tighten soon after driving the first tiem, you should be ok.
Alot of older cars don't even have a hub bore...all weight is borne by the lugs themselves.

a guy on another forum told me they are shouldered nuts with washers. He posted this picture.
do you have any contact info for the guy with the Z32? I would like to find out where he got his lug nuts, and what size.

ohhh. how much clearance inbetween the caliper and inner spoke? Could be another wheel option for us cobra/300z caliper bbk guys.

Well I was .1% from being wrong. I looked at an EVO last night and it had washer style lug nuts. I talked to the other Z32 owner, he did use the stock nuts (for test fitting) but would not suggest it.
try here for lug nuts... you may need more info. You might have to buy a EVO lug nut and measure it.

These things are really hard to find. I went to my local Advanced Auto last night and was looking in the back through all the lug nuts. I think I found some that may work. They are Dorman 611107. It's hard to find someone that even sells this nut. I am currently waiting on a call back from rockauto.com for the measurements on the lug nuts. Through rock auto they are sold as a 10 pack and I am not sure if they come with washers.
I have found out it is a huge pain to find a set of mag/shank lug nuts in 12x1.25!
I'll update the thread when I hear back.

The link I posted earlier shows summits 12x1.25 shank/washer nuts, packs of 4 for less than $5
in case you missed it. http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...4&autoview=sku
Summit has a few other types of shank/washer nuts, including Gorilla.
