need ASAP help.

im minutes away from ordering a set of wheels and i need to know if you guys can help me find out WHY these wheels wouldnt fit:

the SSR GT-7 17x8.5 +35mm shown @ tirerack for 03 350z BASE

http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/resul...ar=&sort=Brand

they are not listed for maxima. i see no reason WHY they wouldnt fit the 4th gen, called tirerack and they werent sure either but they told me that there has to be a reason why it doesnt fit, otherwise they would list it for maxima too. i smell BS and think because of offset. they are on a huge closeout sale and i want to pick them up in the next hour. someone please let me know if for sure they will fit. thanks
im 99% sure they will.

NmexMAX 10-03-2007 05:14 PM

Tirerack/Discounttire are both very conservative when it comes ti wheel fitment. Don;t listen to them, listen to us. You may have minimal rubbing, but it wont be an issue. z32drifter has a much wider wheel than that, and they fit.

I have ordered wheels from there and I had to tell them I had a different car just so they would sell them to me.

VIP Maxima 10-03-2007 05:25 PM

235/45/17 +35. how is that going to rub??? i am ordering right now. 68% off FTMFW

at such low price, im keeping my EV-S too ! w0000t

NmexMAX 10-03-2007 05:31 PM

235 on an 8.5 :slant:

My 245's (8" wide, +35) rub in the most extreme situations and I have an A33B. :o So, I'd say, add .5" wheel width and a slightly smaller chassis = possible rub. Regardless if the tire width is smaller, the wheel width will ultimately make the tire stretch a touch.

VIP Maxima 10-03-2007 05:35 PM

well i have +40 245 on 8" right now and it completly clears even with my aggressive drop so i guess you are right, with the addition of half an inch and 5mm lower offset it might rub. not really worried about slight rubbing tho. where do you rub?

btw not worried about what tire size im going to get right now.

the question is, should i get them or no ?? only 18.5 lbs !!!!

NmexMAX 10-03-2007 05:40 PM

Semi-light, but for a 17, it's mediocre. If it were an 18x8.5 s(uch as OEM Z33 tracks) then that would be a decent weight.

My 17's weigh 14.3lbs, though they are only 8" wide, but still, over 4lbs for 0.5" :grinno:.

I rub in the rear on severe bumps. But it's not bad at all, I wouldn't worry about it.

yeah for 17's the weight is OK, but for the price, i think its a really good deal. i wasnt even thinkin about going down to 17's, just 18's but cant beat that price. so would you say its a steal of a deal ?

NmexMAX 10-03-2007 05:56 PM

I guess if they're 68% off, that has to be a deal? What was the original price, better yet, how much are you paying for them?

VIP Maxima 10-03-2007 06:00 PM

you didnt click the link? original was $379 each. right now its @ 119 bux. or $516 dropped off at the door for a set of 4

NmexMAX 10-03-2007 06:26 PM

:eek::wtf::@$379/wheel

VIP Maxima 10-03-2007 09:27 PM

seriously.......

and of course i forgot to ask tirerack the magic question. if they clear z32 bbk??? they arent listed under 300zx TT either so that raises a question.

NmexMAX 10-03-2007 09:30 PM

Nothing a spacer can't fix. Offset seems friendly though.

VIP Maxima 10-03-2007 09:34 PM

yup. ssr usually keeps bbk's in mind. most likely it will cuz the spokes face out

Mxrider52 10-03-2007 09:43 PM

Yea I was about to say are you sure that they clear the BBK. I was just wondering that. That def isnt a bad deal at all.

Wonder how good they look on our cars though?

VIP Maxima 10-03-2007 09:47 PM

dont think they would look bad but i dont really care either. just want something lightweight temporarily untill i purchase the real JDM goodies im after ;)

They are that anal about it?! Wow.

Definately a good price, I think they will look pretty sharp! Even just for temporary wheels. :p

Not really. They just tell you about the possible repercussions of buying a wheel outside of their OEM tolerance table.

I'd rather skip the :bs: and get the wheels shipped to me quicker.

VIP Maxima 10-04-2007 10:11 AM

i just called them again and they said that it "might require" body work with that width and offset. i dont buy it. he wasnt sure if they would clear z32's either. anyhoo, im buying them.

honor_your_life 10-04-2007 10:50 AM

Yeah, I guess so. I mean if they were like that holy sh!t! Haha.

Good luck VIP!

Mxrider52 10-06-2007 09:40 AM

When you get the wheels post some pics and tell us if they clear the BBK.

BLACKonBLACK98 10-06-2007 02:31 PM

damn those are some good closeout prices. that professor sp1 is nasty... 17" is sooo small though. when i was researching (jdm) ssr wheels, i found that a high disk is usually needed to clear bbk. also with grabbing a +35mm you've limited how much spacer you can use to clear a bbk without poking. i know you've already ordered so i hope it works out.

VIP Maxima 10-06-2007 08:51 PM

not ordered yet but i have no doubt in my mind that they will clear, the spoke design makes this clear

BLACKonBLACK98 10-07-2007 10:52 AM

"Engineered to accept most of today's O.E. and aftermarket big brake kits"

looks like you're right. +35mm is good then. i think you should drop the extra cash and get the sp1. that price is insane for a true jdm 3 pc.

yeahhh but 20+lbs for a 17 isn't exactly what i'd call light.

seriously if you want light then just go for motegi traklites and add like 20mm spacers (more $$ though :()

MrDicks95SE 10-07-2007 07:27 PM

i think they'll fit the z32 calipers no problem mike. my Enkei RPM2's fit and the spoke design was very similar. and i know youre not gonna rub in the front either with that tire size. if anything, camber the fronts a bit and you should be fine depending how low you are. the hub size might be different tho seeing its for a 350z, but thats about it.

VIP Maxima 10-07-2007 07:28 PM

i have heard that motegi tracklite are forged and light weight, they come in 16" tho (from TR)....... arent they hella expensive???

i just cant justify spending $1000 for a whopping difference of 2 lbs. max ill spend on wheels is $400 each

VIP Maxima 10-07-2007 07:52 PM

ps i found em under 03 altima, 17x8 +45 forged 1 piece @ 15 lbs for $280 each. not bad at all, why its not listed under maxima, is again, beyond me........

good good, i like

http://www.tirerack.com/images/wheel...anth_ci3_l.jpg

too bad no 18's :(

NmexMAX 10-07-2007 07:56 PM

I have Tracklites. 14.3lbs, 17x8", +45. I added spacers, but needed to shave off about 1/8" or they would not have fit.

BLACKonBLACK98 10-07-2007 08:02 PM

man that tire rack sizing system sucks. they need a shop without vehicle option bad.

VIP Maxima 10-07-2007 08:04 PM

looks like you ordered the set under altimas too??

it should work with some 10 or 15mm spacers, perhaps the 7.5 was giving the wizard some headaches.

anyhoo, im waiting for TR to get general UHP in stock then im ordering.

Mxrider52 10-07-2007 08:17 PM

Anyone know anything about the ssr professor sp1? If they will clear the BBK or not in 35mm offset?

NmexMAX 10-07-2007 08:18 PM

I'd say they will. :gotme:

the sp1 is from the jdm line where you have to get a mid/high disk for larger bbks.

http://www.rd-tanabe.com/lineup/ssr/sp1/index.html

you can get specs from there, not sure what they have at tr but i would guess normal disk. if thats true you would probably need to get a lower offset and spacers.

Oh well that cool. That stuff seems confusing lol. Those are pretty nice wheels for that price but I def am not spending money to get them and then have to spend more to get spacers or what not. I want some wheels without having to have spacers. I guess ill call and ask them or what not and see if I can find out anything.

BLACKonBLACK98 10-07-2007 08:51 PM

what bbk are you using?

VIP Maxima 10-08-2007 12:31 AM
