Toyo Proxes 4 Review

Just got these tires on the other day (225-50-17) and HOLY CRAP.. these tires are soo much better than my cooper touring tires I had on there before. The car feels alot tighter now when I'm making turns... and the biggest and most satisfying change: 1st gear acceleration: With my old tires, I couldn't go all out in 1st gear because my tires would start to spin, and wouldn't grip right. Well now, I can damn near floor the throttle in first gear and the car just PULLS without any wheel spin whatsoever. In the rain, the car feels alot more stable than it did with the old tires on there. I feel safer now when the ground is wet, and when going over bumps. I haven't noticed any change in steering response... with both sets of tires, there a little bit of play in the steering wheel before the car starts to move.

All in all: Toyo Proxes 4 :

no problem... they're the truth... to save yourself some money (since they're so gotdamn expensive anyway)... instead of paying the "tire disposal fee" to get rid of your old tires... tell them you wanna take your old tires with you... then take them and sell them to a used tire shop.. they're giving me $30 for all 4 of my old tires... getting paid $30 beats dishing out $8 to get rid of tires

Got mine from www.treaddepot.com Ask for Scott on the phone and he'll ship the tires to you for free (promotion now) or if there is no promotion, for $5.00/all 4 tires!

Tires are still great..love em!

I've run my Proxes 4's for the past 4 summers now and love them still. They get a little loud, but it is tolerable. The grip has been tremendous but is starting to fade some now that they are showing signs of wear. Wet or dry they have been great, though. I would buy them again for sure. I'm on 235/40/18's.

I'm on my third set....my driving habits kill A/S tires, lol.

As stated above, great tires in dry and wet....almost impossible to squeal. ride quality is great, grip is outstanding.

As mentioned above, they get alot louder once down below 50% tread, and below about 30% they are REALLY LOUD...Every time mine get down to about 30% I start thinking I have bad wheel bearings when it's really just the tires.

But since they're pretty inexpensive I usually just replace them at 30% tread or so, just to get quiet new ones

I've heard that from people using them in 16" sizes, and a few in 17" sizes. In 18" the sidewalls definitely do not feel soft....

great tire for the buck. with regular rotation/balance, they lasted me nearly 50K miles. however, the last time I purchased I chose 235/45/17. Bumps are a bit more profound with a the lower profile, which is starting to get old. Do you guys think I outta go with the stock 225/50 this time around? price is not a concern as its only a $2 difference.

ok, i have a complaint now that there tires have worn down.. these suckers HYDROPLANE.. even at 40 mph, the car starts quivering when going through water pretty badly.. damn near lost control multiple times in a heavy rain storm.. not only that, but they wear down fast, so i got less than a year's enjoyment out of them

these tires were great when new, but they wear down fast, and when that time comes, these things are not safe in the rain.. now granted, i do my share of 3k rpm launches, which spins the tires, but damn.. i didnt think they would wear down this fast

I had toyo t1r's before i bought these toyo 4's. T1r's kicked ***. only had the 4's for a few days so no review yet. I have the ziex ze512's on the back, i did have them on the front for about 10k and they perform well but only have about 10% tread left at 10k of usage. Treadwear sucks but performance is decent.
