Tire size/fitment gurus step in

Well, its time for a new set of tires and I want experienced opinions. I pieced together my current setup. 350Z touring V1 rims (18x8@33offset) and 225/45/18 kuhmo's last year. Since I am finally getting new tires, I want to buy the best fitting set of tires I can. I am lowered about 1.75" inches in the front and 1.5 in the back. I am going to get 10mm spacers for the rear to match how the front rims fit aggressively.

  • Should I go with 225/45/18 again?
  • Should I go with a wider 235/45/18?
  • Should I go with with a lower profile but still wide 245/40/18?
  • Should I go with 235/40/18 for a good compromise between width and height?

here is the front tire in the well...

245-40 is my vote.

235 -40 is a bit short for me, and 235-45 is a bit tall for me.

225-45 is just too small all around, short and narrow.

Thank you sir. I'm leaning towards that option myself. I'm glad you responded, I was beginning to think no one used this section.

I go by the saying, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", so if these tires aren't giving you issues, don't change them...

I had 225-45's on my 4th gen, and even on that chassis, IMO, they looked a bit thin.

Ok to get a definite size, I am going ahead with getting the fitment right. Tomorrow the rear quarters are getting rolled. Friday I am getting 20mm spacers. How it fits and compresses under load will give me my answer. Now if I could just sit lower.....

245/40 hands down, smallest speedo error and "fullest" size. 235/40 is okay, but IMO, you can tell the difference in ride quality.

What about 255/40 18? Wont they fit? I was thinking about doing these for traction purposes

I think my options are limited now. Rolled the fender lips and poked the rears out 20mm.

A little wide for 7.5". Also, if you need traction, get a super sticky summer compound, or RWD.

Word. Best part about the south is you can get away with a summer compound because snowfall is less than 10" a year. I'm still debating 225/45 again or a 235/40. Tires are super close to the freshly rolled edges.

Yea I have 18x8 10offset (30+20mm spacer) . It seems to be running into either the bumper inner edge or upper inner rear fender with my wife and two kids in the car on a hard road dip. H&R springs (front 1/2 coil cut). It blows my mind how much narrower the track is in the rear.

Whenever I'm grocery haulin' the rub gets worse. Not sure why it's that way either. The same way on 4th gens. And on Chevy trucks it's the same way. My Pathfinder is opposite, rears are fine, fronts are a little sunk in. Where's the balance Nissan!

Which year pathy do you have. My Wifey rocks a 2006 pathfinder SE. Kinda want a stiffer suspension, it's too floaty when loaded with people.

Well I know with our trailing arm rear beam with torsion rod it tracks up and to the right when compressing.

Oh yeah when lowered the torsion bar binds up and sends the tires to one side. Didn't mean I wasn't sure about that issue I was saying I wasn't sure about why the track is different front and rear on the Maximas.

R51 suspension is too floaty stock. I went with front coilovers and rear shocks and springs. PRG/RadFlo. Expensive but worth it. Ride is fantastic now. Not floaty.
