Wheels/tires Sticky? G35 wheels on maximas

There always seem to be alot of questions about G35 wheels fitting on maximas, and "how they look." Thought it would be good to have a sticky on the subject, since it comes up many times each week, and include pics of various maximas with these wheels. This would save alot of re-post threads on the subject. So, to start it, here's what I know:

Facts:

The lug pattern for all G35 wheels is correct for maximas. All G wheels have a correct offset to fit 4th through 6th gen maximas (not sure about 1-3G), though they will sit more flush with the wheel wells than the stock wheels.

The 7-spoke G35 Coupe 18" wheel is 18x8 with a 30mm offset
The 6-spoke G35 Coupe 17" wheel is 17x7.5 30mm offset (front) and 18x8 33mm offset (rear)
The 6-spoke G35 Sedan 17" wheel is 17x7 with a 40mm offset
The 5-spoke G35 Sedan ('04) wheel is 17x7 with a 40mm offset
The G35 Coupe 19" Rays wheel is 19x8 with a 30mm offest (front) and 19x8.5 with 33mm offset (rear)

Other notes:

-There are replica G35 18's on ebay and other wheel shops. They are usually sold with a yellow Nissan or Infiniti center cap, and are 18x7.5" with 30mm offset (slightly narrower than the real ones)

-The center caps from most Altimas and 00-01 Maxima GXE wheels will fit on the G35 wheels.

-The 18x8 G35 wheels weigh about 24 lbs

-The 17x8/7.5 wheels weigh about 25 lbs

-If you buy the G35 18's or 19's used, they may come with the automatic tire pressure sensor attached. You CANNOT use this, and probably should replace it with a conventional valve stem

-The 19's on the new G35 coupe are made by Ray's. They are much lighter than the other stockers, and MUCH more expensive ($2000+ on ebay)

-The 19's come with 225/40/19 tires (front) and 245/40/19 tires (rear)....if you use the stock tires, there is a good chance the rears will rub because of the relative high aspect ratio.

-You can find used G35 wheels for pretty cheap on www.g35driver.com and www.g35frenzy.com

here is my gallery of pictures
http://gregg-henry.com/gallery/g35-18s

my favorite part is how the 30mm offset with the 8inch wide wheel is flush on the 3rd gen!!
a 235 tire was too wide for the back for me since im 1.7 inches lowered. so i bent up the inside lip of the wheel well of the car. a 225 tire id bet wouldnt rub if youre as low as me. i also think a 235 wouldnt rub if youre running eibachs 1. inch drop..... no rubbing in front for me unless i hit a crazy big bump while turning very hard(which i did once).

i love the overall look of the rim and it doesnt matter what gen its on it looks great. Irish was the one who inspired me to get mine.

The G35 18" wheels also clear most if not all big brake kit calipers including the 13" Cobra rotor/300z caliper kit I use and sell parts for.

And another pic of a 3-gen with G wheels

Sorry to bump an "old" thread, but do the eBay replica G35 coupe wheels look narrow in the wheelwells of a 5gen? I mean does the OEM 8.5" sit flush on a 5gen?

ebay replicas are 7.5 inches wide. stock g35c's are 8 inch wide not 8.5

use the wheel offset calculator in the wheels/tires section and input the 8inch for current width 30 for current offset and the knockoffs as the second set of #s

Um what? Ebay CHEAP ARSED COPIES OF WHATEVER QUALITY are 7.5" wide. OEM G35 18" coupe wheels as shown above are 8" wide. Where is 8.5" ever mentioned? As far as looks, there are pics on the 1st post.

i know this thread is about the G35 wheels but i have seen some threads asking about the 18" 6th gen SE's so heres a pic of them on my car..

Before Drop

After Drop

they fit perfectly in the rear, however there is a slight rubbing issue when the front wheels are turned all the way but its nothing major.. i dont know the exact specs on these however i do know they came with the Goodyear RSA's 245/45/18.. also, im not sure how heavy the G35 wheels are, but these things are like cement boots so an upgrade on rotors, brake pads, and ss lines is recommended.. there are a few more pics on my cardomain site..
-TUNA
EDIT: sorry bruh, i thought i was posting useful info in a sticky rather than having people come up with same threads over and over again..

perfect fit and slight rubbing dont go together.

why wouldnt you go to those threads and post your pics rather than here?

that's why this thread is a sticky, so it's always bumped...

don't know what you mean by narrow....does this look narrow to you?

Ok my bad, I meant 8" OEM wheel. I couldn't think of the word so I used naoorw, what I meant was that the wheel is tucked in and not flush with the fender. But I guess the pic irish posted answers it all. And to the 2 peeps who posted regarding my first post, read my question first. I asked whether the 7.5" replicas will sit flush and whether the OEM did too or not, albeit maybe the wording was kind of weird.

I don't recommend those cheap copies. I don't know how they will sit. But if the offests are the same, it will tuck in about 2.5" in further.

They sell wheels with some cheap arsed tires for over $800 + whatever shipping. I'm selling my REAL 8" versions for just about the same price. With Michelins that are $240 each new.

Hey Irish, thanks for the write-up, its very informative. Do any of you know whether the 18" g35c centercaps are 50 or 58mm's? I know you say which years will work but the guy from eBay is unaware of which is for a 00-01 altima. 50mm would be 2" and 58 would be 2 5/16" in diameter. I do not yet have the rims so I cant measure myself or I would just measure myself.

the G35 sedan 17's are a 40 offset, I believe. No idea about the 16's

my measurements show 55mm outside lip diameter and about 50mm inside lip diameter....but I used a tape measure, so it's not too precise. The center caps I used were from a 2000 GXE maxima, which also fits.

for a 4th gen, try them without spacers first. Since you don't have the wheel arch flared as much as a 5th gen it might look pretty good.... The offset is 40mm, but since they're 7" wide, they are (I think) wider than your stockers, which (I think) are 6.5"....

I would suggest you put them on and see how they look before you go and get spacers.....

- Is anyone else running G35 staggered 17's on a 4th gen? Pics?

Thanks!!!
no, what you have are the G35 coupe 17's, which are almost identical to the G35 sedan wheels in appearance. The only difference is the rim width and the offset. The G35 sedan does not have a staggered setup. The sedan wheels are more "flat" in the front, while the coupe wheels curve inward more...

I use these wheels for winter and autocrossing (and my 18's for regular driving). All 4 of mine have 225/45/17 tires on them for autocross, and in the winter they get 235/45/17 tires....

these are the G35 coupe 17" wheels that you have, on my car(the 18's lying on the ground next to them are the G35 coupe 18's):

So I can put the same tire size on the 17 x 8 and the 17 x 7.5? Won't that same tire sit differently on a wider rim? Currently they have 225 50 17 and 235 50 17 on them.

yes, you can. That's how I have it on my autocross wheels, which are the 17x7.5 and 17x8s.... I would say to go with 235/45/17 to avoid any rubbing...

Anyone know the part# on the 2000 GXE cap? My 97 SE and Infiniti caps are not deep enough to lock, the part #'s are 40343/5P010 and 40342/AU510 respectively.

Thanks!

What tire size would you guys suggest for 18" G35 Coupe wheels on a 97 Maxima stock springs? Also, if I had about a 2" drop (as I may be getting one in the future)?

I just recently bought 04 OEM G35 coupe 18 by 8's on my 98 GXE w/ an eibach pro-kit drop on illuminas. It really feels like my camber is off even after an alignment. Should I invest in a camber kit?

what do you mean it "feels" like your camber is off? A drop of less than 2.5 inches really should not need camber adjustment. It probably just feels different because of the offset of the wheels being farther out.

It'll be a while before we see those, I'm sure.....unlike the 18's, which can be had for $500-700 used, the 19's on the new G are made by Rays so they are VERY $$$....The only set I saw on ebay was going for about $2500.00 - for that price you can get pretty much any set of high end rim you want, not stockers, even from a G....

As I recall, I paid about $4-500 for my 17's and a bit more for my 18's (both without tires). Check the G35 forum classified sections for the best deals on REAL ones, or get the knock-offs from ebay which are a bit heavier and probably not quite as strong....

I just paid $520 with shipping for just the wheels. They are in perfect condition with no road rash or anything. Irish when I put these rims on is the gap going to be horrible or will it look fine? I just want to know because if it is going to look like crap I mine as well get some springs and struts and put them on when I put the wheels on.

Go for the 18's I think they look a lot better on our cars. I see me and you have the same car and I would say go with the 18s. Keep your brand new tires and use the 17s for the winter or something, but definitely go with the 18s.
