I have an 87' Maxima parts car with available parts if anyone needs anything. I also have access to an 86', 87', and 88' parts car. Kind of a 2nd Max parts hoarder.
I have one I'm using but I can get one, if someone else hasn't beat me to it. There is an 88' at a local junk yard I plan to get the shifter and pedals out of this weekend before they crush it. Have seen manual transmissions on ebay for 2nd gens, the pedals and shifter you don't see any on ebay.
yea i'm intrested I will check ebay last time I looked there wasn't any, but yea if there is one in the junk yard save it cuz they are hard to come by these days
I'll give you an update after I go this weekend. I know unlike the automatics, you can remove the manual transmission with the engine in place. I've been hoarding these 2nd gen parts. I always ****** the rear and chin spoilers off if they have them. I have 3 sets of tail lights, 2 extra rear spoilers, I have head lights, 3 grills (2 chrome 1 black), wheels, center caps, body parts, a extra sunroof, dash trim, seats (the sporty ones). Last manual they had in the junkyard they crushed it before I could get the 5 speed transmission, shifter, pedals and cross member out of it. I got some stuff off of it.
I do need a passenger side head light also at some point. Yes you can slid the transmission out with out doing anything to the engine...... Nice I'm glad someone is saving hard to find parts for these they end up in the crusher quick since there are very few people trying to keep them up. Was hoping for mine to last till I get my 200sx on the road and could take her down for a build but that is looking like a slim chance at this point been looking for a cheep car to get me though before I destroy the tranny to the point of not being able to be rebuilt
I have another set of head lights. I just picked them up the other week. The 87' I will be picking off of on Saturday still had the headlights on Sunday when I was there. I think I am going to go ahead and grab them on Saturday too. I took the front bumper lights last weekend. There is an 86' on the yard too, it has those stock wheels that look like man hole covers. Debating on whether I want grab them incase someone needs them. They are in good shape too. I know once these cars are gone, they're gone so I'd rather have excess stuff then be without what I need. You're Maxima is your daily driver?
I would need the 85-86 headlight, yea I like those rims but mine came with Sentra SE-R 16s and the factory squares, had to take the factorys in for scrap when I had no place to keep them and needed money. Yea mine is my daily if I can find a tranny or it's going to be parked so I don't mess the tranny up anymore but need something till my 200sx get done....

I have the crank pulley and bolt. I should have the mounting brackets (what holds the engine mounts). The crossmember you are referring to, you mean the engine cross member? I have one but it is for an automatic transmission. An 87' at the local salvage yard has a cross member for a manual. I may be able to get that out safely. Grabbed the manual trans out of it last weekend. I have the engine mounts, I need to double check their condition, I can get the starter from the 87' at the local junk yard, have the passenger side axle with the bracket (boot needs replacing).

yeah i need the engine crossmember and basically everything that connects to the engine above that. i would prefer a manual one but im using it to swap a vg into a stanza so i may end up having to modify it anyway so whatever is easiest (cheapest) for you to do, as long as the engine mounting points are the same thats fine. im not worried about the condition of anything so give me your ugliest, workingish stuff that you dont want and ill make it work. i probably wont be running the axle anyway as i have different axles to run, i just assumed no one is going to be able/willing to press out the carrier bearing bracket.
all that is cool then, do you have an engine wiring harness tho?

Got cha'! I have the engine harness in my donor car shell which is an 87'. I just have to see how to separate it. I'll post a picture of all the stuff between Sunday and Monday and PM you that quote. I have extra stock spoilers too. No problem.

you may have to pull the airbox and heater core and stuff, thats what i had to do on my stanza, but idk about maximas. but awesome man i appreciate it, cant wait to hear from ya.
On the Maxima the harness goes through the firewall on the driver side near the driver door jam. The harness is too bulky to pull through the hole and I didn't wanna cut it so I left it until I had a chance to figure it out. It has to unplug somewhere. I took a picture of the crank pulley and automatic transmission cross member. I'll take the rest over the weekend.
looks good to me, ill take that crossmember since im trying to keep a low budget and i already made the shifter bracket before so ill just do it again lol. my only question is the alternator on a 2nd gen a serpentine or vbelt? thanks again. OH and hopefully the harness unplugs from the ecu and has the same ecu plugs as a z31 cause im planning using a turbo ecu.... anyways they should definitely fit through that grommet from the inside out.if you have to cut the grommet then go ahead cause i probably wont be able to use that.

sounds good to me, do what you gotta do as long as you dont care about the chassis. im assuming you dont by the looks of it lol
Yeah man, I took or attempted to take every little piece off the car. Little stupid things, never know what you might need. Eventually I'm going to cut the car up and take it to the metal scrap anyway.

you should be able to pop the rubber gasket out and get the ecu plug though the hole....

i am the same way with z31s but there really arent too many of them around me where i live. not very many vg maximas either. PA usually rusts them out before they live a full life lol

i almost forgot! if they are front sump (im like 99% sure they are) im gonna need a maxima oil pan too if you have an extra one of those lying around and possibly the oil pickup tube if you would throw it in, otherwise ill just modify the one i have. i appreciate the help a lot.

If you look closely at the pics the links installed on your 88 Max and the uninstalled links in the earlier pics are different. Your Max links has 2 L brackets that sandwiches the stud that holds the chassis bushings. The 2 L brackets bolt to the bar bushing clamp and this is the type on my 87 Max .
The pics with the uninstalled links have no L bracket and instead the stud is just welded to a flat base plate which bolts to the bar bushing.
Maybe the pics got changed somewhere along the way ?
I did check and found that there was a part number change in mid 1987. So, both link types might work. LR stab link on my 87 Max same as on your 88.
I’m not understandinging. The brackets I have off the car are exactly the same with the ones on my car. What L bracket are you referring to? The only difference is the rubber bushings are missing. I used the 87’ bushings on mine because they were in better condition.
