Coolant Temp Sensor Location; Yes, i've searched

Hi,
I've searched using both basic and advanced search and all threads are "dead." Can anyone tell me where the CTS is on a 98 GLE A/T?

Thanks,

Jeff

You searched? I doubt it.

This thread is linked all over the 4th gen section:
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=366028

For example:

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....=ects+location

Search:
http://forums.maxima.org/search.php?searchid=75370

Mislinked threads?

Hi, Thanks for the info. Yes, i searched. Sorry i didn't find the same links. Sarcasm wasn't really necessary, but understand the thought processes are different above Mason Dixon Line.

Again, Thanks,

Jeff

FTR, the original Mason Dixon line ran above Maryland:

Not to mention, I lived for a fair amount of time far down south.

Geography has nothing to do with it, it just comes to mind that you didn't put much effort in searching.

What were your search terms?

http://forums.maxima.org/search.php?searchid=75360 was the result of my first search, "Coolant temp sensor location"
This was the fourth link in the search, http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=488220, which gave me a no thread specified link.

Sorry about the mason dixon comment, , a cold day here in Missouri and car starting slow all the time.

Thanks for your help.

Engine Stalls or Dies (intermittent)

The photo and info on the location of the Engine Coolant Temp Sensor (ECTS) were very helpful. I saw a reference in your thread to your car stalling. I am a new member, former auto tech (way back). My 95 Max is experiencing its first driveability problem at 170K. At part throttle, especially when coming out of decel, it stumbles (dead miss) then picks up and keeps going normally. Also, it has died a couple times when coming down to idle (for example when stopping at an intersection). Restart takes a few seconds. Checked the DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes), and they show 13 (Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor circuit), 34 (Knock Sensor), and 98 (Engine Coolant Temp. Sensor). Checked the temp sensor circuit (voltage and ground coming to the temp sensor) and it is good. The temp sensor itself is bad (open, i.e., infinite resistance across the contacts), so I am replacing it today.

QUESTION: Could this cause the engine symptom? If not, any ideas what could?

Haven't done anything to the air/fuel system on this car except normal fuel, air filter, and spark plug replacements. Thanks for any help.

If anyone needs info on the standard maintenance of this car, I can help, but regular maintenance and a few minor repair items are basically all I have had to do to it in 17OK miles and nearly 13 years. Great car! Thanks,

Svenfran

PS- I saw in the FAQs that I can't start a new thread until I have done 15 replies to existing posts, so I apologize if this is somewhat off target.
