Never happened to me with my Maxima but it happened to me with the Camry you can pull the antitheft box out from underneath the steering wheel area and look up the specific wires for your year and unplug it and it will turn over. Or you have your radio wired wrong.

Just pull the anti theft relay out from passenger side relay see what happens. I have never seen a 97 anti theft keep one from starting. Now 99 maxima will. Just don't ask how I know 3 times was enough for me so i and harness swapped my 99 to a 97

Its not the anti theft, you must have shorted something. Try unlocking the driver side door

So exactly what did you install? Was it just a head unit or did you also install an amplifier? another question, do you have an aftermarket alarm in the car?

Most times when a radio triggers the anti- theft theres a code you can enter in the head unit to unlock it. Never heard of it keeping the car from turning over though.

Nissan radios do not incorporate or use any anti-theft codes. As such, there isn't any wire connections between the radio and the anti-theft system.
