Body parts , swap to Infiniti?

do maxima body parts, like a 99 maxima trunk lid fit on 99 infiniti I30 cars?
someone dented my trunk and the body shop wants $600 for the new trunk lid, or $200 to 300 less for a used trunk lid. $600 seems pricy for such an old car.
seems a used lid would be fine - opinions?

Where are you located? Usually there are plenty of I30s in the junk yards right along with Maximas.

No way are they interchangeable. Look at pics in Google Images and you'll see how the lines of both cars are very different. I30 is flat across, Maxima is curved upwards slightly. Besides, the tailights are drastically different and would look like ****.

Only thing interchangeable on the i30s to a maxima are interior parts, suspension etc.. maybe doors and windows. But trunk probably not.

Doors (I have done it) and hood (been done before) do interchange, but that's it to my knowledge.

I've swapped in used doors, bumpers, hoods, and fenders without a body shop on several occasions. All providing I get the same color and no rust on the replacement parts.

Not at all - you had a"used part" on there before the accident.

300 seems really expensive. My trunk rusted through the spoiler mounts so I just went to my local JY and pulled one for $30. Really easy to replace yourself. Body shop isn't necessary unless you need them to paint match also but you may find the color code at the JY also

Only difference from the used part (if the color is the same) is the color may be off from the rest of your body panels. They could blend the color in for you, It costs $250-300 to paint the trunk lid..if that bothers you.

You could pick up a trunk lid from the JY with no body damage for $50-100 and have them repaint it for $250-300. They're charging $300 for used trunk lid only because they have to send some-one out or order the part.

Here are your options:

#1: Either pick up the trunk lid yourself and have them painted ($300-350 total) This is the route I would choose. End up happy with the results, and not getting ripped off from paying $300 for a used trunk only.

#2: Used trunk lid for $300, Not painted, not knowing that the color could be way off from the other panels. Could have noticeable damage on it? You don't know. The body shop gets to pick it out. They stated "used part" so what they pick is what you get. Think twice about this choice.

#3: And your final option is to sit back, have them do all the work for you for $600, they get the trunk, paint it to blend.

You decide. You choose.

#3: And your final option is to get off your ***, grab a trunk for $45-$100, replace it yourself, grab a sixer and reminisce about how you almost spent money that could have gone toward new tires and struts, on some body shop to undo and refasten 4 bolts.

You decide. You choose.
Fixed.

Haha, revised #3 ^ I mean your right, he could do it himself and spend the rest on new tires if he needs... but I went on based off options he has from the body shop. Everyone's situation is different. I can't choose for him.
