I replaced the rotors on my g/f's 3.5 L31 with the better quality Advance Auto pads and rotors. The originals were pulsating as if they were warped. She is not a race car driver.

Im still confused why 5th gens have such an issue. Front pads are identical from 89-03. In 2000 front rotor thickness increased. In 2002 rotor diameter increased slightly. If anything 5th gens should be less susceptible to warping. Curb weight of a 5th gen is only a few hundred pounds more than a 4th gen. Thats like having a passenger. I had a slight pulsation with Napa rotors on my 4th gen. Im now on 2000 brakes, of unknown brand(s), and all is fine.
