P1167 Code
Hey all,
I get this code from time to time in my 02 maxima. Usually after driving for a while in the highway. last time I got it was like 6 months ago and now its back again.
It says something like "Manufacturer control air metering"
Anybody know how to fix this?
Thanks

You have what sounds like an old, tired o2 sensor that is going out intermittently. Replace it, be done.

I replaced bank 2 rear sensor 11 months ago to be exact. I mean wow really?

Looks like u got an aftermarket o2, brand is called replacement. These things are known not to work sometimes. Go OEM on the sensor and should be no more problems.
BTW its no wonder that sensor you got has a 1 yr warranty on it. If you replaced it 11 months ago looks like its just in time... might as well have them replace it even tho I wouldnt use it again, go OEM and sell off the other one to get some cash back.

1157 code is for HO2S22 which is downstream sensor bank 2 sensor 2. Not sure which one exactly you replaced? Its the one on your front pre-cat.

Ugh, I think I replaced Bank Sensor 2 (rear) and that is one of the tougher ones to get to
So when you say OEM, you mean go to the dealer? If so, there're an arm and a leg

Yup pretty much dealer for OEM o2's. Generally, any good mechanic will recommend using oem because they work. Aftermarket, you can try but they are hit or miss.
Considering o2's usually last like 100k at least, why not just spend more one time instead of dealing with a possible headache down the road, having to replace more sensors and waste more money. Thats just IMO.
Good luck with her bro

I never heard of that ARBN brand before. The Bosch brand is a good brand. The Bosch # 15224 is the one you want.

Classic, george_strikes again hahaha
How can you even claim this when OP has a 5th gen and they are mostly super reliable if taken care of. What you meant to say george_is that your Nissan is an unreliable POS.

I agree the models without the VQ35 are much more reliable like YOURS!

I have to say I bought my 02 max with 50K on the odometer. Now with 120K. Didn't even buy a warranty back then. Never had any engine or tranny problems. Love this car. Pretty much had to do regular maintenance items. I do admit I replaced the mass air flow sensor, and a few 02 sensors back then. But those are electrical items. Engine and tranny are solid on this car.
