A/C compressor cycling in our cars

Is it just me, or is the compressor cycling in our cars not that apparent? What I mean is that after the compressor's been running for a bit, it's of course normal for it to turn off for a bit then kick back on and lather, rinse, repeat. But I've noticed I really don't hear the cycling in my I35. It's been this way since I bought the car 3 yrs back. The A/C works fantastically and everything. I'm used to Hondas with Denso compressors where you clearly hear them clicking on/off. Is there something different with the Calsonic units in our cars?

The a/c does not cycle on and off on the Maxima/Infiniti design. When the cabin temperature reaches what ever the setting is, the fan speed is reduced but the compressor keeps running.
