245-45-19 on a sport

Good Morning,

Looking to replace the crappy OEM tires at 39k (I still have probably another season left) with Continental Extreme Contact DWS however was looking to maybe make the low profiles a little less low to prevent bent rims, stock tire size is 245/40/19, will 245/45/19's work?

It will work but your speedometer will read lower than your actual speed.

So basically my car will have lower mileage than what it actually does?

So better snow driving bc of tires, less miles on the odometer when I get sell, and more ground clearance for snow and less change of my scraping my bumper on a curb, why would I refuse aha

When changing tire sizes, we recommend staying within 3% of the diameter of the original tire. Any more than this and you face the risk of brake failure.

If you go to that size you are at 3.61%. Why not go with 235/45/19 and you will be at 2.28%.

I also have been looking at a higher side wall.

Tire size changes in that range have absolutely nothing to do with brake failure.

yes they are...in the context of the little bit of circumference change we are talking about....extreme changes may cause additional rotational mass that could cause premature brake wear, additional torque loads under hard breaking could cause failures and could cause electronic braking systems to freak out a bit considering they are designed with certain tire sizes in mind, but in all realworldness (yea i said it), Its fine the changes we are talking are minuscule in the real world application

in regards the to the OP.. I ran them for my last set of tires, I did not like the way the larger 45 sidewall looked on the car compared to the 40s, but thats my opinion. I live in Buffalo where winters suck and potholes are king, my wheels are fine

i saw winter driving mentioned in a post as well...to be honest if that is a concern get some 17s and run some snows in the winter....I dont do that either lol

the whole speedomter and odometer thing is true, but it wasnt significant enough in my eyes to be overly concerned
