Fog Lights

What do you guys suggest doing either HIDS or LEDS. I think two pairs of HID light in each fog would possibly be overkill and potentially too hot? Any help with this would be appreciated and what brands and costs.

Might not be good as our fogs are H16 circuit. Which is the same as the H11 except operates at a lower wattage. Think of it like getting a better computer, but still having dial-up and you're trying to stream movies. You can find inexpensive low wattage LED bulbs.

Yeah that seems to make sense. Plus Fogs in general are not suppose to be as strong as a headlight anyway. I live in Arizona so we don't see alot of rain or fog. So now I just need to pick the right LEDS to go in the idea of having four ballast boxes is a lot.

Most people have went with the JDM Astar and a few has gone with the Opt7 Cree fog light. Have also seen the Xenondepot headlights used as well, but they're expensive.

This is really helpful thank you. Any thoughts on what you would pick. I want to have all my lights pretty close to matching color wise I know it won't be perfect but I dont want it to be like three different colors with HID headlights, the DRS, and fogs? I was thinking with going 6000K for my headlights.

Most manufacturers go with 4300k, but I believe Nissan used 5k for the DRL.

Man that looks really clean. Helps because your car is the same color as mine. Well tough choice for me then 5000k or 6000k. But you are giving me options which I appreciate. You decide to do anything with the fogs or like others kind of hesitant because of the moisture issue with those JDM ones?

I have the Opt7 LED fogs, just haven't had time to install them yet. Has been cold here lately also, so doesn't help.

Yeah that makes sense. Well let me know what you think of them when you do. A lot of reviews said they weren't that bright but then again most cars only have one bulb in their fogs vs ours having two per side. I did an led swap out of some of my interior lights, door, trunk, and license plate lights. I will post some pics tonight or tomorrow .

Never put HIDs in your fog lights, you will blind anyone and everyone in front of you. Like I mentioned before I had issues with the JDM leds and I switched to the xenon depot http://www.xenondepot.com/H16-LED-fo...h16-led-hl.htm 5000k leds and have not had any moisture issues since. Yes they are a bit pricey, but it resolved my problem they match really well to my low beam 5000k HIDs.

Did you just use one bulb per side or two?

If it was his post that I saw, he has 2 sets installed. I don't believe many others would really follow and get these as the price is relatively high. From what I read, the rubber grommet was the problem with the condensation.

Yeah price wise its tough. But if the grommet those come with or the old one from the halogen bulbs don't work to seal it then maybe paying the higher price will be worth it. But like I said I want to see how you like your Opt 7's first.

It comes with the new ones, and our new vehicles' grommets would work also, not like it's old and brittle.

I did purchase two kits, I tossed my oem bulbs unfortunately as soon as I got the JDM leds so I wasn't able to test my theory, but I believe someone on the Facebook group tried to swap the o-rings and still wound up with moisture.

Opt7 Cree lights installed. Looks very close to factory lights in person. Happy so far. Let's see if moisture issues start.

This is how the JDM LED fogs look. They are 6000k, so they have a very slight tinge of blue compared to the factory LED headlights.

this has me thinking. maybe the aftermarket bulb bodies have inaccurate distance, from base o grommet to the lock tabs, for locking them in, that even with the oem seals do not work. what if a shim is added, so the grommet can surely do its purpose? hmmmm... i want to test this... when i find the time.

I just bent the tabs to make a more secured fit. I noticed they were secure but had a little bit of play.

OPT7 Cree Fog Lights 5000k 700 lumens

I'm not a great photographer but these pics should help you decide, the first pic shows the true color of the fogs

Hardest part of the install is getting the clips on/off. The right fogs, you have to disconnect the connector before twisting off the bulb. Limited room, but definitely manageable. First one is a pain, but it will get easier after that.

There's no hint of any other color but pure white in person. Photos don't do much justice.

Yeah my fat *** probably needs to jack it up a bit to give me more room lol. Yeah I figured it was just the picture causing that. Well that is making me lean more towards the opt 7 and the guys pics below yours was pretty solid as well. What groms did you end up using what came with it or the oem ones?

I just bent the tabs so it would fit more tightly.

Also on the latest pictures, am I the only one that noticed the redbull on the hood lol. The pictures make it seem like the windows are tinted. I really wished I didn't live in a state where the state law doesn't allow it. Makes it look so much cleaner.

Haha I missed the redbull. No way really yeah tint with a white car really make it look clean let me tell you not to mention the obvious benefits. Well I think you guys helped me decide. Just got to decide on my HID kid for my headlights 5 or 6 K. Also thinking about doing switchbacks for my DRLS but like I said all a step by step process.

My current headlights right now don't like too much. What I plan to do is stick these LMZ LED headlights in my high beams and get HIDs for my low beams. The distance really isn't there. But also contemplating with the STI-R clear lenses for our projectors. Might as well go ***** to the wall especially if I'll be opening up the headlight assembly.

Oh really awesome I am assuming you have to take them out to adjust them? Yeah I guess if you have money for days you can do whatever you want. I am a baller on a budget lol. I still want to do and OEM audio intergration with an audio processor, eight new speakers, two amps and subs. Probably going to cost me between $1500-$2000.

I've been wanting to swap out the fog light bulbs to match the DRL and eventually put 5500k hids from trs for the low beams. It looks like the H11 OPT7 5k led bulbs are the best way to go color wise for the fogs. The users who posted photos of them look great. But how is the performance? Many of the reviews on amazon cite poor brightness and throw. We also have 4 bulbs so that may compensate for the difference between the factory halogens. Can anyone who installed these advise if they are worth it or not? Thanks

Whatever you do don't buy Opt7 H11 Cree Fog lights they will make the fog assembly get moisture in it, I just ordered PIAA H16 plasma ion yellow bulbs so we'll see if it fixes the condensation issue, on regards to this topic does anyone know the brightest(Quality) led headlight bulbs you can buy?
