How fast do you drive on the highway/freeway?

I was just curios to how fast most of you drive on the road. I would have to say my average speed is about 85 on the freeway/highway?

depends which highways..

In the city, my average speed is around 25/30 I'd say damn NYC... on the freeway, I hang around 45-60 depending how much traffic there is.. if the road is completely clean, like at 3 AM, i'm near 70 or so, just going as fast as other cars.

Depends which highway, traffic conditions, if I'm racing or not, if I need to get somewhere quick or if I just wanna lay back and cruise, could be anywhere from 60-140 . And if I'm going somewhere far and have to take a nice a** road like the NJ turnpike, you know that's just asking for it .

P.S. My average speed on the highways is probably around 85-90.

I used to average 40-50 on city roads (25-35 limit) and 70-85 on freeway (55 limit)...but then I got a ticket going 47 in a 35...so, being only 16 years old, i need to keep a somewhat clean record to keep insurance down, so no more speeding for me for a while...usually go 40 in a 35 now, and usually 65 on the 55 highway

I try to stay under 95 in a 70 limit, so if I do get a ticket, it won't be a wreckless driving (25+ over) ticket. If I need to get somewhere fast, I have been known to drive 120-145 for several hours straight without slowing, except for traffic of course.

I have to keep it under 15+ here to avoid reckless driving, so with my 12 over ticket, i was just 3 mph away from gettin reckless driving, that would not have been good...and if i get another ticket, my insurance will be so high plus, i will no longer have a car cuz my parents would take it away

In TX, you can do defensive driving if you’re doing less than 25 over the speed limit. So I pretty much always go 24 over the speed limit, with a sprint to 110-120 about once per week just because…

65 unless I'm passing someone or have to get over really quick. The speed limit is 55 everywhere around here and I can't get another ticket or my insurance goes way up.

I drive around 35 to 45 mph in the city. On the highway, I cruise at 75-80. If there's no one around, I'll punch it to over 100.

City Streets = 10-15 over posted, average 45
Highway = anything up to the speed limiter, average 90
residential and school = the limit or below (wouldn't be able to handle it if i hit and injured/killed someone, especially a kid)

between 70-75, cruising UNLESS I'm passing a semi or a slow as* driver who's hogging the lanes.

I'm still trying to get a good grasp of my mpg, that's why i'm sticking to highway cruising.

I've made it the 180 miles from where I live in the greater D.C. area to where the sweetie lives in southeastern PA in 2 hours, 15 minutes. And that was with 25 miles of low-speed local road driving.

You do the math

I don't drive fast unless there is another idiot in front of me as "cover" to break the cops for me. As you can see from the above, sometimes there are a lot of idiot drivers on the road in my area

My maximum "uncovered" speeds I'll drive at are 75/65, 65/55, and typically 5 to 10 over on local roads if it's clear.

Usually I would go about 70-80 on the highway.

When I was coming home yesterday from Baton Rouge after Matt's dyno was finish, I hauled *** back home. I got school the next day, and I had some assignments I haven't finish. Anyway, I was going a constant 90-100. At one point I took it up to 130, it didn't feel safe with my stock tires, so I quickly slowed back down to around 100.

I normally go about 10 MPH over what the speed limit is on city streets, but will go faster or slower depending on the time of day, conditions, ect.

As far as freeways go I am normally 15 MPH over unless it is the following freeways in NorCal:
5&280: At least 20 MPH over

505: Whatever I consider safe (In the middle of BFE without a cop for days)

80:Speed limit as there is too much traffic to even go 5 MPH over the limit where I drive it.

You know as well as I do that its hard to do the speed limit here in MA especially on 90, 495, 95 and 93 heading into NH.

well the only roads i really drive on are rt. 80, rt.46, and I.95,, and as a lot of people say, "i do 80 on 80",, cute right? but i'm the worst going to philly taking 95,, i probably average 100 mph, and get there in an hour and 20 minutes, takes my parents at least 2 hours.

i have a PBA card,, in case i get pulled over, but i don't know if have the ***** to actually hand it over, we'll see i guess.

I try to stay in the 100-110 mph range on the highway/interstate. My exhaust is real quiet at that speed and the car just glides down the road effortlessly. In town, I usually goes as fast as traffic will allow.

Ok well I forgot what PBA stands for, something about the police. Basically all cops get a certain amount of PBA cards each year, and they give them out to their family/friends etc. And if you get pulled over you can present the card to the officer (nicely) and apologize for whatever you were doing wrong and stuff and they'd most probably let you go. It helps if the card has the officer's autograph on it with your name written as well. That's basically it, or at least that's what a PBA card means to me, getting away with stuff . Once me and my friend got pulled over going 120 on the highway racing, and we showed the cops our pba cards and they decided to cut us a break. They gave us some bs tickets for lights/tints and stuff and let the big stuff go, though they made it clear if they catch us again we're going down. And in some cases cops will confiscate the card from you if they think you're taking advantage of it. Basically just because you have a PBA card don't think you can do all the sh*t in the world and nothing will happen, but it can save your a** at times. Hope that helps.

yeah basically what "for sho" said,, but i wouldn't present it when i know i'm being a complete d!ck and speeding excessively,, probably wouldn't help anyway in that situation. some people have gold PBA cards(and i've also seen metal plated PBA cards, super cards i guess?), not sure how they get those. i think it stands for Police Benevolent Association,,, and i still think it'd be awkward to show it to the cop, but i havent been pulled over yet so we'll see i guess.
