Between 4th and 5.5 gen

Hi
I'm trying to find a nice , resonable milage 5.5 gen ... however , I test drove so far 2 5.5 gens, one is with 134K miles and the other is 80k miles, both are autos.........man....the 4th gen is much much smoother and quiter car ..maybe I'm much used to my 4thy,i don't know....
for those who know well the 4th and 5.5 gen (and the 5th gen),should be there that much of a difference between the 4th and 5.5 in terms of quietness and smoothness ? is what I felt normal , or those 2 5.5 genies are junk ?

If you like the 4th gen, swap a VQ35 into it.

I had a 3rd gen and a 4th gen till some moron t-boned the 3rd gen. now I have a 4th gen and a 5th gen. Based on comfort & ride, my preferences are:
#1 - 3rd gen
#2 - 5th gen
#3 - 4th gen

I got A 5gen and it was so quiet when i first got it, you didint even know the car was on if you walked by it...but A 5.5 has A bigger engine so might be louder and more noisey 3.5 compared to 5gen\4gen 3.0
with A couple mods the noise is much louder now on my car

Smoother and quieter? Don't forget slower too! lol. I dunno man, when I got my 02 GLE is was TOO smooth and very quiet. However it had 37k on it then, so maybe it was just those two cars. If you plan on modding it what does smoothness and quietness matter? You want smooth and quiet, buy an 85 Eldorado.

For three years, I leased a '99 SE 5MT back in 1999. Then in Fall 2002, I purchased my 2003 SE 6MT.

Stock vs. stock, the 4th gen was slower, sure, no question about it. But in some ways it was more fun to drive. The turning radius was shorter, and the car just felt a lot more nimble. My point being, sometimes "fun 2 drive" can be had in a slower car.

The 5.5 is undeniably more attractive, although the interiors on both are equally good.

Which was more quiet? Don't know, don't care. I've modded my 5.5 to where "quiet" isn't an option, and I like it that way. I'd say the 5.5 is smoother, but I would guess the 4th gen was quieter. It's been a while, however.
