OMG 11sec DSM Turbo

Last night I took a few rides in 11sec DSM Eclipses. I was talking to them about the Maxima's breaking into low 14 N/A and 13's boosted and they couldn't stand to listen much more.

We did a few rolling runs from 20-110 since the local hwy was only 50mph. At low RPMS it felt just like our cars (ok louder). Then at about 4K it came on like a motherF and planted me into my seat so hard I almost wet my shorts. The shift from 6.5K back to 4K happened after like half a sec and we kept pulling and pulling. By the time I caught my breath it was over.

Turns out this group frequents Great Lakes Drag in WI. 60' times between 1.5-1.65. Traps speeds of 125mph+. And these are 3250lb cars - heavier than the Max. These AWD sleepers dyno 350-380hp.

I still love my Maxima but for running the 1320' this was an eye opener for me. There's a whole world out there for us play in.

My friend Randy ran 12.11 @ 111.9 tonight in his 1g AWD DSM. Small 16G running 21lbs on 112 leaded race.

Eclipse and Talon AWD's are indeed a threat. The 4G63 can handle a lot of boost in its stock form. My brother has a 97 Eclipse GSX and runs constant high 11's in the quarter. That's with stock internals! He started when the car had 20k and now it's at 85k. Only replaced the ACT 2600 twice. He has a Frank jr level 2 turbo, which is equivalent to a 19g. Plus all of the other things to support such a big turbo. 116 VP racing fuel and 26 psi at the track, 15 and 93 on the street. I've rode with him a few times at the 1/8 mile track in Savannah GA and it is crazy. I would love to see the thing with a built motor.

I was going to explain it but, instead i just copied and pasted this from DSM.org. I had a 99 Eclipse before i bought the Max.

A joint effort by Mitsubishi (three diamonds) and the Chrysler Corporation (penta-star) to build some of the most incredible automobiles in the world. The vehicles were produced with the names Eagle Talon, Mitsubishi Eclipse, and Plymouth Laser. DSM cars are assembled in Normal, Illinois. The '94-and-up Mitsubishi Galant is also assembled at the DSM plant in IL; previous Galant's were assembled in Japan. The Eclipse and Galant (since '89) share the same platform.

Diamond star motors? Also which have more potential? The older ones, or the newer ones like the green eclipse in FnF? Are the new ones (2001?)not that great since it isn't considered DSM?

Wait he's boring a 2.0 to 2.4 and turboing it

The cars are pretty light in Jerz, they are pretty much race cars, but I believe a lot of them are daily drivers. Notsure exactly what turbos they use, because I dont think they all use the same, but its nothingtoo special, just a good builder

I think he;s the fastest fwd dub in the country now. And he'll probably be in the 9's early next year. With tecIII all tuned, tranny working, slicks hooking up, he's to kick some A$$.

10 sec dsm

After working at Pruven Performance here in CT for some time, I've ridden a few times in the owner (dan) 10.90 street driven eclipse gsx...absolutely nutty...a 500awhp awd car that has traction problems.

Dan is absolutely amazing when it comes to tuning DSM's. I believe he runs faster then most people do with nitrous with a much smaller turbo.

Oh and TheBlue, in case you didn't know, Racing means breaking.
Just let me know when you wanna go at it, autocross, 1/4 mile, road race, rally race.... you will get owned.

Yeah, I've seen Dan's car when I was getting my 97 GS-T tuned, that thing is trully sick. I like how Dan runs 9's without nitrous when everybody else need nitrous to run the same times.

They are reliable as long as you maintain them, I was pushing 400 HP out of my GS-T with 80K miles without any problems ever, because I owned it from the beginning and took care of it.

I'm actually debating if my next car should be a Max or an AWD DSM.
