1st Time At The Track!!

I went to the Byron race track this past weekend with my 02 Maxd (6 Speed / HLSD). My car is bone stock with only a drop in K&N Filter!!! We actually had 3 4th Gen Maximas show up.(Nealoc187, Bejay1 and BriGuyMax) 1 4th Gen I30, ( I30tMikeD ) and 3 5th Gen Maximas ( Hawk25Dave, TellschMAX02 and myself Speedy6). We were representing the VQ's engines that day. The best run from all of us was Neal's. Neal should be hitting 13's real soon!!! I ran 4 times that day, but my first run was the best one. 14.49 @ 91.88 MPH / 60'ft 2.200. Honestly I'm a rookie at the 1/4 mile, but I had a great time at the track. I have just recently instaled my Injen CAI, and it looks real sharp, hopefully it will improve my times.

Good running!

Did you get any wheel hop? I ran a 14.769 but had bad wheel hop and loss of traction. I know it would do better with a good clean launch. And too the weather was 86 degrees with 86% humidity that night. What was your weather conditions?

I'm suprised your traps speeds are so low. Any ideas why? 00-01's trap around that stock.

Sorry for the late replies! Thanks Cyrus! Larry, I launched around 1500 and 2300 RPM's, a little wheel hop was present, and I lowered my PSI in the front 2 tires to 23PSI. The weather was cool and the humidity was low.( 70 to 75 degrees). Emax95 and blubu2k2, I don't know why I ran 91MPH , but I do remember that just before i passed the 1/4 marker, my car bogged down because i hit the red line in 3rd gear. I didn't even get a chance to shift to 4th gear !
My times seem very strange, but everyone that I mentioned that came along can verify my times. I have just recently instaled my Injen CAI and I'm still waiting for more funds to purchase my exhaust from Greedy. Nealoc125 and BriGuyMax, were trying to figuire out why I ran a 14.4 @91.88mph !

I took a look at his timeslip right after he ran it...and the numbers just don't make sense....everything up to right before the 1/4 mile is on line with a high 14s run...and then the 1/4 is 14.4. Neal and I think that something blew across the timing lights before he got to the end of the track...that would be the ONLY thing that would explain his time.

His car bogging right before the finish would NOT cause him to trap 4-5 mph low.....I missed 4th gear on my first run...and coasted the last 200 feet...and still trapped almost 96mph....

On 2002's the gears are tigter, 3rd gear only goes to 91 MPH.
