Going to the track tonite
Went to the track Thurs, need some help :(
with no expectations at all. I just wanna get out there and see what kind of time i get (stock 2k2 Gle auto)
I need some advice on launching techniques. I get tons of wheelspin when i floor it usually..... It's an auto so I was thinking torque braking it to 1500 rpm and letting it rip first run and see how it goes.
Can anyone offer me advice to a newbie at the track so I don't **** up?

Go around the water and warm up your tires good by applying the emergency brake before launch. Your car will probably pull forward but you will warm them some. You can try nailing it full throttle but you will either spin or get terrible wheel hop. Either way your 60' is going to suffer. Hopefully if it is cool weather you should see some 14.5s. I ran a 14.76 in warm weather with a 2.174 60'.
Let us know how you do!

I dunno what I did wrong....
My first run I got a 15.420 with a .772 reaction time (although I had someone else in the car plus I had subs and amps in the car and spare tire plus jack the entire time, will remove next time.)
next run was even worse
then my third run i got a 15.373 with .960 R/T without anyone in it
I was brake torqing to 2k and just flooring it.
BTW this is in FL so if the humidity or anything effects it I dunno. But im confused on how the other org members ran 14's stock in their auto's

You could write down after each run on the timeslip what rpms you launched at. Then the next run, brake torque it higher or lower, and write that down on the next slip. Then compare the two and you should be able to know what rpms is best for you to launch at. That's what I did and found out 1800rpms was best suited for my car. I learned quite a bit about my car and how to launch it properly by doing that.
I also went around the water box, but I didn't use parking brake to get the rocks off. What I did was like if I was launching the car. Step hard on the brake, rev to 1500rpms or so, then let go of brake. Seem to work better for me then pulling on the parking brake. This is to get rocks off, not really to warm up your tires. You don't really need to warm them up. I did went full throttle out of the hole. And I had a SC at the time. I didn't have too hard of a time hooking up. Just learn what rpms is best for you to launch at without getting too much wheel spin. If I launch at 2k rpms, that would be too much for my car and I would spin like crazy.
Don't worry too much about your R/T time, it doesn't figure in the 1/4 time. Just concentrate on your launch. Hope this helps.
