footwork

Does anyone here ever take their foot off the gas when you shift, or do you just keep your right foot down and shift as normal. I'm talking about a 5 speed on the track of course.

A x-maxima owner at i talked with at the dragway one night didnt. He walked up and asked me how I was shifting. (thought about it and didnt know - driving a manual for years) so he proceeded to say that when he had his 96 max he stomped the gas and never let off ..!!

i still havent tried this, but the thought is still floating around in my head !

i just do some maxima 5 spd SPEED shifting .. ! lol

and im letting off the gas a bit in between shifts but you know all that is happening so fast , im not sure how much not letting off the gas would help.

no idea myself but that guy sure was a believer !

I don't know, I can't see putting it through all that abuse for such a minimal gain. At least I think I can shift pretty fast. I probably start rolling into the throttle before the clutch is even out. I would not do this with an ACT or equiv. That is how 3rd ends up in transmission heaven.

I have done it on the 2nd to 3rd shift a few times at the track.....don't know if it really did any good.

Neal shifts like that all the time and says there is not much point in doing it into second because there will be too much wheel spin and that will end up slowing you down.

I don't know about maxima but I do it on 4bangers because they are just low on power, it helps 1-2 but 2-3 you can't really feel it helping you.
