yup. NO MODS whatsoever. not even a K&N air filter. no weight reduction, just drove it on, drove it off. hell, the spare tire and jack were still in it (should have taken those out, that was just retarded of me, i forgot)

adjusted tire pressure to reduce wheelhop (25 psi front) because i dont want to buy a new tranny case. lowered tire pressure on street tires is useless anyway.

..

u got a rare case of breakin in the high 14s STOCK? but on top of that, with like a 2.3 60feet? i would think you would need like low 2.2s for high 14s, cuz someone here got 14.7 with 2.1s, so say ur 2.3 went down to 2.1, techincally u would drop down to 14.5s, stock? ........

could be. though, on my 3rd run i did hit a 2.2 60' and it stayed the same, mainly because i forgot to shift at ~6100 instead of practically on the rev limiter. old SE-R habits die hard man.

i think this car has a good 14.6-14.7 in it, stock. but, sadly, this will probably be the last time i race it stock. i wanna hit 13s, all motor, on street tires.

I believe the times...especially so if the track is in/around San Diego.

Sea level does wonders for 1/4 times. I bet the temps around that time were quite nice...humidity was low...and the track was prepped really nice.

BTW, do you have the stock tires on there?

(IMO you are missing out on some better times if you're shifting 'at redline' in every gear...the Max loses a LOT of hp in the 5.5k range, especially stock, get a dyno if you don't believe me...)

it actually has 215-65-15s from the previous owner. those are hurting my times a little, IMO.

yeah, i should have shifted at redline in first, and about 6000-6200 in 2nd. i didnt pay attention to what rpm it was turning at the end (close to redline, i assume) but a shift into fourth would add precious time to the run, so i think i will leave it in 3rd the whole run. like i said though, old SE-R habits die hard. my SE-R makes peak power (438whp) @ 7750 rpm (which is where the rev limiter hits at). peak torque (354 lb-ft) is at 6000 rpm, and doesnt fall below 335 lb-ft from 5100-7750 rpm. scary thing about that car is the rev limiter doesnt react quickly or forcfully enough to stop the motor and it will easily hit 8400 rpm if im not careful in the lower gears. the other thing that is lame is i have to shift into 5th before the end (well, if you call hitting 128 mph in the 1/4 lame ).

i launched at 2000 rpm, btw. this seemed to net the best 60' times. launching higher just made lots of wheelspin, so i would have to back out of the gas (not good for going fast) to keep it off the rev limiter. i started at 3200 rpm, then went to 2500 rpm the 2nd run, then 2000 the 3rd run.

what do you guys usually launch at?

The stock crapTenzas are no good for track use...which could be the reason you got a fairly good 60'.

I know what you mean about your old habits with the SE-R...with a turbo you get used to shifting high at redline.

I also launch at around 2k...but the Ennis (Ennis, TX) track is usually slick which doesn't help anyone's 60' too much.

hehe, the thing does have Potenzas on there. same tread pattern as the newer maxima. i am at work, so i will check out what they say on them on my lunch break. they werent too bad. at stock pressure, though, they tend to hop all over the place. this was my first time with the car at the track, so it was entertaining to learn its nuances on the track.

i wanna see if its capable of 13s on street tires now.....bwahahaah.

Good job. I don't think it has a 14.6 in it unless you can pull of a miraculous 60' of like 2.10 or lower. I am sure you could hit a 14.8 in it stock though, maybe even a 14.7 if you can pull of like a 2.15. Most of the guys with the lowest 60' times on this board launch almost off idle, like 1400-1500rpms.

You might wanna try playing with different shift points, and even try shifting into 4th. Some people like to shift into 4th when stock and some don't. I always shifted to 4th when I was stock, the couple times I stayed in 3rd I didn't run any quicker, and my trap speeds went down.

I've always said this and I'll say it again, you put a good driver in any stock 4th gen 5spd and it will run 14s without a problem.

If you get all the boltons you should be able to run 13s with them on street tires. It's been done before with less than full boltons, and there are a number of people running 14.0-14.1s with less than full boltons as well.
