Raced an 89 240SX from a dig, was a pig, I shut down right away. I shouldn't have bothered, it was dog crap slow. I've never raced a newer 240SX, but I imagine it would be pretty bad for the 240SX, RWD whatever...

Raced numerous VW's 1.8T and VR6's, and they are nice, but can't really hang down low or up top. Still nice quick cars though.
Stock VR6 (Golf or Jetta) are quicker/faster than any model year 240SX.
Which one is better is a subjective thing, it all depends on what you plan on doing with the car.
Your 15.98 et, was your 240SX the 95 model with 155hp?
Get a 4th or 5th gen Max, run in the 15's bone stock, and work from there.
Yeah it was a 91 model 155HP but estimate 120whp I know they are slow with the stock engine SR is a diff story. However I am more inclined to a V6 daily driver than a 4 turbo. But have anyone here raced a Jetta VR6 or a 3000GT N/A and how did it go. I test drove yesterday a Dodge Stealth(same as 3000GT and it was a nice experience. Let me know guys about this facts. I do love the look of the 3000GT's but i love te reliability of Nissan. If im not mistaken the Maximas come with the VG30DE right (the same as the 300ZX) and i presume the maxima is lighter than the 300ZX? This are interesting facts. Please educate me here I am willing to stay in the wings of Nissan
95-99 maximas have the vq30de not the vq30. 95-99 maximas are in the 14s stock with a good driver, a number of people here have run 14s with them. they are faster than a vr6 jetta stock vs stock.

The N/A 3000GT's are lame. ~3300 lbs in the N/A V6 trim, should break into high 15's w/good driver.
You can't go wrong with a 4th gen 5spd Max. These things are doing low 15's with good driver, and are mod friendly. They might not be as plentiful as the Auto Max's (duh), but will reward you more everytime you drive it.
Don't expect a lot of support for non-Maxima cars on this website dude. We are ALL biased.

And those of us who will tell you to look elsewhere have probably had something go wrong with our cars.
Im not looking for support on other cars i like maximas is just that im trying to get as much feed back from you guys as i can. How much could a 96 Max be worth and which is the best trim there is out there. If im not mistaken the SE is the best one right. at least is the same as in the 240sx. Well i remeber that a friend of mine used have a bone stock Auto 91 and almost beat a Civic Si that has ( i judge this by the sound) I/H/E. My friend almost haul his has. Oh yeah did i metion we where five on the Max with lots of stuff iin the trunk. The car is now over the 191,000 miles and it still feels like new.
As a matter of Fact i think i made my decition. The sole reason i was considering the Jetta is because My Future wife loves that car and dosent like the Max but she can get her own jetta. No matter what i own her a$$
