Drag Racing:Need help selecting the perfect clutch for my Max?

Well maybe a few of you guys around here have heard. The clutch finally bit the dust. I can get into gear with the engine off but cant get into any gear with the engine running. I get grinding and just a force fighting me back.

So im shopping for a clutch. There seems to be several to chose from and im up for some suggestions. I enjoy going to the dragway so thats something to consider and the car is running 14.2 to 14.4's at the track all motor.

Im planning on buying a clutch, transmission and quite possibly some type of limted slip. Once this project is complete im going to look into the mevi/ ecu with extended rev limiter.

With the clutch im looking for something thats tough, reliable and will help with the launches and so forth.

thanks
ceasar

I did a 5spd Conversion, and Installed a ACT "Street Modified" Clutch w/ Heavy Duty Pressure Plate, Fidanza Flywheel, B&M Short Shifter, Redline MT-90 and I love everything about it. The setup is still completely streetable, and although I only have a little over 100mi. the clutch does grab when asked to.

hehe jk

I don't know much about aftermarket clutches as of yet since I still have my stock one so I can't contribute anything to this. I've used an ACT street and it seemed really heavy to me, but I guess that's just because my clutch is really light. I have been thinking of trying possibly the Exedy aftermarket clutch (not the OEM replacement one, the one with more clamping force).

Hahaha... yeah you bastard... you like to post the pics from that race though dont you... If you remember correctly I said that I smoked my tires all the way to about 60 mph in 2nd because I knew I couldn't lose to you even if I did, I think that was my worst run of the night with a 13.9 or 14.0 or whatever it was 1/4 mile time... But I did it on purpose for the camera, don't you remember this??? And thats fine... Need I post the pictures from about 5-7 seconds later when I have like a 10 car lead on you because I'm going 10-12 mph faster than you through the traps? :P Post some pictures from further down the track if you dare.. >:O

I would get the exedy stage 1 clutch as no one of yet has regretted getting it. There is too many conflicting experiences with the ACT street clutch.

I see, I was reading meccanoble's thread on his clutch problems and I thought it was his slave or master cylinder and not the clutch.

His TO bearing broke. That was the problem. Exedy uses a stock TO on their kit, it def cant handle the extra stress of a high performance clutch.

ACT here will chirp 3rd when asked. I'm on my 2nd ACT in my Maxima. When the tranny blew I decided to install another new one with a Fidanza flywheel.
