Yup I'd say alot is going to depend on drivers. If you're good and he doesn't launch it like he stole it, you can probably take him. If it's the other way around, he could win.

his TOP end owns!

fastest stock ones have hit high 13s stock from mags & @ s2ki.com
fastest maxima only can do mid 14s from mags
but amateurs have done low 14s... and most s2k drivers are only mid high 14 drivers, so yes, drivers race....... but his full potential even without intake should be faster than you.....

They are pretty quick. alot lighter than our cars. I'd say yes 75% driver 25% car. Toss up really since i dont have the #'s in front of me. I have smoked a few off a stoplight but never went high end. my guess is id get walked after a bit. All depends on the amount of mods as always...

Those cars are very nice sounding and nice pulling cars. I raced one with a VTEC controller last week (he had 1/2 tank, i had just filled up) and he only had 1/2 a car legnth by 120. If you're going from a dig- just make sure you hook up those tires, and you should pull. Good luck.

BTW, does anyone know how a 2.8 z3 would hold up against a 6speed?

I did a highway run with a guy in a S2000 a couple months ago.
He passed me up, I switched lanes, came up on his rear.
Traffic was thick, we were doing about 50-60 mph, then traffic broke open at an
interchange. I knew he was going to go hard, so the second it broke,
he switched lanes and he went...then so did I.
I ran it up to about 90 mph and he pulled a bit from me.
He got the jump, of course, since he was in front so traffic broke for him first,
so he pulled about 2 car lengths right away, then it seemed like for a bit he didn't pull much, but then he started pulling away so by the time I shut down (at about 90 mph) he was like 4 car lengths ahead. So he pulled 2 cars lengths from about 55-90 mph.

But I have an stock auto. A manual would of probably only been back by 1 car length.
And since you've "shaved" (not sure how) 100 pounds off too, I'd say it's going to be close.
And since you're probably talking about a drag race, it'll all be in the launch and driver's at that point.

that'd definitely be an interesting race.. I was just at a huge RSX meet today andI saw a few Spoon S2Ks.. speed demons to say the least.. and yes, how did/would you shave 100 lbs? first and foremost, hood.. that'd be the easiest change.. what else?

I removed everything from the trunk, its just bare metal now
took out back seats
took out center armrest and console parts
and alot of other misc things like the ashtray, back seatbelts floormats etc

Considering taking AC out and getting lightweight battery and light rims

Im probably going to do a lightweight battery as well as lightweight wheels, I had 19s on my max and I could feel the lag in performance just going up one inch in size from the oem 18s.

And his bottom end is a regular 'ol Civic. Until this year, they didnt have peak torque until 7500RPM.

3.5 would get it off the line cause we got the torque, but he'll pull hard. Those are fast cars. I havent run one personally, but I've seen them go before. Sweet top end, wish my Max engine could rev like that!

I had a short pull with a slightly modded s2000(intake,catback). I only have intake and ypipe. We went from 35mph in 2nd gear till redline, about 65mph. I know thats a short race but couldn't speed too much cause it was a busy street. I instantly pulled away after the 3rd honk. I had a little more than a car length on him by redline then I shut it down and he went flying by.

They really have nothing down low. But I bet if we kept going, he'd creep up and pass me pretty easily.

lol Jime....that is funny!!! makin easy work of them honda's eh?

I would think this case would merit a "no replacement for displacement" and put my money on the 3.5 maxima! although the new S2000 is much improved, peaks torque lower and they added 10 lbs/ft. of torque....not to mention tighter gearing and an bored out engine...it's now 2.2L believe it or not! but I have seen too many vids of 5.5 gens on here pulling on S2000's to believe otherwise
