why move the battery?

this is something i've never really heard much about. Under what circumstances is it necessary/beneficial to move the battery and for what purposes? can't figure it out!

Turbocharged guys usually have their turbo right where the battery is. That's one reason. Another reason is it would aid handling because of better weight distribution. These cars are nose heavy, and it will alleviate that a little bit.

yea like neal says it will iad in handling, nothing like a nose heavy car. i have a sweet little lightweight battery and love it. it really opens up the engine bay and adds some room in there.

What about for drag racing. I think its not that good since we already have traction problems and with less weight upfront and more in back the traction will be even worse. But for handeling its good.
