1/4 mile track times for auto
Heres the only way to race your auto.
First of all shallow stage. What i mean by this is when staging stage as far back as you possibly can. This will allow you to get some momentum before the time actually starts.
Start in first gear and lightly press the brake with your left foot while at idle just so you don't move. When the pre green light lights light your left foot of the brake and then floor it with your right foot at the same time.
You will want to shift into 2nd at redline. Make sure you have a good idea of when redline is since the gauge isn't the most accurate. I listen to the engine to know when redline is.
Since you are in second now shift into third as soon as you can to allow the auto to shift into third on it's own since it will do so at the least rpms. You don't want to shift yourself since you won't be making any power that high in the rpms in second.
I do have a timeslip to back my method up. 14.4@97 in my na 96 auto

Do the 5spd swap, it will be your best friend, or you can get some nitrous and run a 12.6 in your stock auto like Jime.

I'll try that out and hopefully post a decent timeslip. BTW mate - What's your kerb weight when you're stripped down for the track? Are you under 3,100lbs with you sitting inside?
Cheers Fanatic,

Thanks Claw/Fanatic.
Excited like a little child waiting for Christmas, waiting for the race meet...I'm going to have my 180k (about 112,000 mile) service, full auto transmission flush and perhaps put in NGK Platinum plugs that Caesar highly recommends early next week (last week before Christmas...wow, where has the year gone?).
Then strip about 200 - 220lbs out of the car and kick a.s.s..
Your help's really appreciated guys.
