Launch Control

I was talking to a guy down at the drags. He had some sort of launch controller in a Mitsubishi Chariot. Seems to me it was pretty cool. Said he pulls up, floors it and the controller sticks him on a selected rpm.

1. Are there any reputable brands for the Maxima ?
2. Has anyone else used anything like this before or presently and what are your thoughts ?

It seems that this would help a person be more consistent at a drag strip.

Here is link I found looking around, has a video of how setup works.

yeah, it seems this might help though, so you dont have to ease up to the light, and watch your rpms , try to get your rpms were you need it, and at the same time trying to watch the tree.

It's called a two step. You aren't going to get one for a maxima unless there is one in the EU and that works (I think I saw it in the list of features), or you go to a standalone.

Oh its great to have but it's impossible to get without spending a ton of money on a standalone or the EU (emanage ultimate) which so far doesn't even work for our car fully.

Hopefully the EU works for next spring. I want to see the VQ's full potential.

You and me both JClaw... considering I'm the one that took the plunge and am lighter in the pocket for it. Not to mention all the time scoping signals, testing things and going back and forth with Greddy.

The EU does have a launch rev limiter. But as others have said, not everything works on it yet. Still waiting on Greddy to fix things up.

Ceasar check out my thread in the SC/TC forum if you want to catch up on all the EU happenings... it should still be on the first page.

EDIT: here's the link.

Yeah the SMT-7 has a RPM set launch control as well. If they ever get it working Id like to try it out. It pulls timing up until a certain RPM is reached and then reverts back to normal timing once your moving. However it can be configured in different ways.

By the way they just got the 2step working on the EU on the VQ35, so if the VQ30 is ever included in their firmware, it's likely it would work for us as well.

I think it always worked for them once the VQ35 firmware was done, just no one had tried it on the Z, plus they didn't have an easy place to get a speed sensor signal like we do.

It should definitely work for us if we can ever get the stupid update. The crank pickup is the key to a whole whack of things on the EU it seems.

I tried to get a hold of Kenji but he's out of the office until next week and not picking up his cell phone. Last I heard they were working on an add-on hardware module in Japan. That was a good week ago.
