what auto shiftpoint adjustment?
and yeah, jimes accomplishments are awesome, but im a NA dude as well. i think nitrous would be fun, but im afraid i'd get addicted or after driving the max with it i'd think its too slow to drive without it.
ive been back and forth about whether to just get a 3.5 swapped in or the 00vi, or what. im still undecided, i just dont know what my goals are, and how much money i can safely spend.

It adjusts the point that the auto shifts, if you notice the auto shifts at like 6000 or maybe 6200, but never at redline. JWT has their tcm upgrade for alot of money that will do this, but jim was working on something that you could set your shift points to whatever you wanted. Which will be sweet for me and anyone else with a VI, extended the rev limit on an auto has nothing to do with shift points. So normally you would have to manually shift to get the auto to shift at redline. This makes the computer do it, no error! heres a link: http://www.forums.maxima.org/showthr...ght=auto+shift
He's doing final testing soon!

yeah I'm with you. I keep going back and forth between "I should mod it" and "Save for the 3.5, newer engine, more power, lower mileage, probably better gas mileage, lol"

oh me too. I just read what it did. It makes the computer think you are at a lower rpm then you really are some how so your shift point is raised. hopefully that is only at WOT

Yeah it took me a while to figure out what direction to go in with my car also. But I decided I'm getting the 3.5 swap and probably spray it with a 75 shot. I'll be N/A for a long time though the nitous is way down the road. I just see to many problems with boost. I dont want to be buying new parts every 5 seconds because something broke.

i guess either way, if you go 00VI route you can always sell it and make your money back.

I think am going back to the track with my stock front wheels back on and remove the spare and jack this should get my into the 15's no problem, I thinking the funny gas will be next, does not look like a ecu upgrade will get me all that much for the money plus I will have to run 91 or better gas all the time

This is like the first time reading about 1/4 mile times with auto. I'm auto as well and I thought 15's would be easy with just a few mods. I'm in the process myself of putting a 00VI in and VAFC II, but even after the install I won't be going to the track for a long time. NYC sucks b/c all the tracks are crazy far. Have any of you guys considered slicks. Wouldn't that drop your time ~ 0.2.

15's is easy with a few mods...
if you read, i was having problems with the max when i was getting 16's.
but now mid 15's seems easy.
i dont know if slicks would drop your time very much. someone in the fs section was selling some and i considered it but for the price there's some other things i need to take care of such as tranny cooler, and other maintenance things. im starting to realize the importance of maintenance now that i'm workin the car hard at the track.

also, while watching a video of my rpm's at WOT im starting to see where a MEVI would benefit. the car stays above 4k most of the trip. so the power loss would only be noticeable for first gear and thats it, right? i mean having a peak power point at 3 to 4k rpm doesnt do much if your never in that range on the strip.

I have a 96 auto se and my 1st time at the track I ran 16.09, 15's should not be a problem with a better driver

16 just seems painful to me. My friends auto 97 accord with intake, header, exhaust. Runs 17's and managed a 16.9.
And I consider his car slow.

Yep - the 16's is a reputation you want to get rid of ASAP!!!!

Even if you run 15.99s - then you can honestly say you have a 15-second car and don't have to say anything else...then they wonder which end of the 15-second spectrum you actually sit..."Damn will he beat me? I only run 15.5?" hahaha...
