IT is the drop resistor mod, it makes your tranny shift rougher and harder. You can read up on it on the General Max or 4th gen fAQ's.

I've never heard of such device? How does it work, and what are the gains?

If I have I/H/B/17*/ and drag suspension, how much faster will I be with this mod? Last time I did a 13.78 @ 100.48 mph....

i dont know if it makes you any faster but it helps the tranny last longer. normally in between shifts you have lag for comfort so when you disconnect the drop resistor it shifts firm and strong during hard acceleration. it may help improve times because you are now getting fuul strong shifts instead of lazy ones which results in a slight increase in 1/4 times. i tried the drop mod with a micro switch at first but mine kept melting so i resorted to when i go to the track i just unplug it before i run and it works just fine. i use to have the stage 3 vb but when i got a new tranny i never put it back because some times it would get on my nerves so i decided to wait till summertime but this way works so good i might leave it because the car is nice and smooth until i wanna race. this and a a tranny cooler will prolong the life of your tranny

The last A33B that tried this had worse results in the 1/4.

thats why its really beneficial for FI or nitrous guys. where if before you were losing pick up from the tranny lagging this will give it back. i guess its equivalent to a undrive pulley it doesnt give more hp but makes the car faster. but its real function is to preserve tranny life.

I know that, but the OP doesn't, nor does he have either.

Heres the link for the DR mod. http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=285482 I've run my fastest times with it unplugged. I dont have it hooked up to a switch because I'm not really good with wiring things. CMAX thats the reason I didnt get the vb mod also I didnt want the car shifting hard all the time just when I race.

The DR mod will help save your trans if used with a WOT switch because it shifts quicker and saves the clutches.

It will not make your car quicker unless you are putting down some serious power ie minimum 250 to the wheels and higher.
