Rear Mount Turbo Track Times 1/4

Alot of people have been waiting for these numbers and here they are.

First, my current setup for those that have not read my rear mount turbo thread.

TO4B turbo, boosting 7.5ps, 00vi, vafc2 (tuned), automatic.

First Run:
R/T... .032
60'... 2.352
1/8... 9.348
mph... 80.54
1/4... 14.228
mph... 101.76

Second Run (My best time ever):
R/T... .147
60'... 2.364
1/8... 9.304
mph... 81.67
1/4... 14.143
mph... 102.89

I am very happy with the results. My previous best time was with the 75shot, I ran a 14.2@98mph 2.3 60'. Clearly the turbo at 7.5psi is putting down more power than the 75shot. Also with the 75shot I took out all the seats, and plate on the rear seat. Today i went with full trim, no weight reduction. I even had gas tank above half.

I also would like to note that for automatics, locking the torque converter WORKS!!!!! you can see the difference between the two runs. 60' is the same, how ever Trap and ET improved. I locked the TC I believe at the top of 1st or right at the 1-2shift and left it locked till the end of the track. I was next to a new WRX and we were even from the line, then as soon as i locked the TC i just started pulling and pulling till the end of the track. he ran a 14.4 at99mph.

I will post vid soon.

It'd be cool if you got a high stall converter and could come off the line with some boost and slicks. Right now it seems that you're still struggling off the line unfortunately.

Good to see some numbers like that. Now you need some more traction like Neal said and you can see yourself dip into the 13's easily, I bet.

Excellent results! Your last trap says you are making more power than before. I really appreciate feedback on locking the TC - I'll be back on the track to test that within the month, I hope. We have serious rain today, hail and a snow blizzard are on the radar, but at least the local tracks have their schedules posted.

Good job with your car - you have learned a lot, and I'm sure better ETs are coming. Shorter slicks would help that!

Thanx for the comments, I really regret not taking the slicks. I should have brought them with me. 22"slicks on sawblades will help shorten my gearing, quicker rev and quicker spool, alot less weight than my daily wheels (53lb each with tires). That alone will for sure put me deep in 13's.

Grey99, on my 3rd run I tried what you told me to unplugging the drop resistor even before the race because you said if you unplug it before instead of using WOT switch you launch harder off the line. Now when I did this, I dont know if the car bogged or if i spun the tires. on this run i ran the following:
60'... 2.4
1/4... 14.2
mph... 102mph

I am really not sure if i spun or car bogged, I think i spun. these tires are quiet when they spin. The entire run felt like i ran the fastest for sure though, dont kno i just felt more power.

I leave the DR disconnected all the time I'm at the track. Reason being that the line pressure is always at maximum, so you launch and run that way. More consistent that way. Works for me.

I think you've got a newly-hatched beast there. Put on the slicks and try it again. Maybe a little spray at launch to help you spool !!

Nah no need for spray. im getting off the line pretty nice. Turbo lag is not as bad as it used to be. the reason being is that. when doing my below 3k tuning, launching with close to 14.7 a/f does not help turbo spool up at all (u would think it does since its leaner but it dosnt with me), I set the a/f at idle to low 13's mid 12's, and when you step on it a/f stays at 12's till above 3k then stays at close to 12's the whole way. by making it richer at below 3k the car moved ALOT faster before 3k. I really dont kno why making it richer below 3k helps with spool but it worked for me.

Interesting - some day I'll get my car tuned !! Actually, after I get the on-order headers installed, the third nitrous stage installed along with a cutout, and the in-the-mail Pathy TB/spacer installed on the MEVI, I will be ready for some serious dyno tuning - on the stock ECU. Heh.

That's a good start! You definitely need the slicks. The gearing advantage alone will be a HUGE gain!

good times, but get off the line with some more power and traction and you should be in the 13's with that 102 trap.

man , you need to get that methanol injection kit , put the boost at 10 psi and go back to the track , dude , 250 buck s away from mid 13's... i would have done it already. if you need the money my friend is willing to buy the vafc, so just put the emanae on and buyt the kit and then dyno and have fun . oh and if you put on the slicks and launch hard, that will be something nice

Actually, im not gonna increase the boost for now. My goal is to get mid 13's with 7.5psi. and i think its very realistic goal. My next track visit. i will remove all seats, bring the slicks, launch harder (now that i know i can almost get boost by brake torque).

Good luck for your "broken for around a year" axles if you're gonna launch on slicks close to or with slight boost, lol

Then again, good thing you have AAA :-D

Have you ever broken axles without experiencing wheel hop?

I know some manual tranny guys can do it with severe wheel hop. But I've never heard of an automatic doing it w/o wheel hop.

I don't think Jime has ever snapped an axle. The tranny is the weak point. I expect that to pop way before his axles. I also hope his tranny stays together for years to come like others have done with nitrous.

i hope my tranny stays together for years to come as well. If i dont mistreat it on the street, im sure it will last me a long time. now if i keep being an ******* and trying to mess with people on the street, then i might kill it sooner than planned lol.
