finally hit 13's

I finally hit 13's but my f$cking afpr crapped out again

1st run
60-ft 2.150
330 5.823
1/8 8.918
mph 78.72
1000 11.641
1/4 13.962
mph 95.62

babmac went also and taped the run soon as he emails it to me I'll post it, the car was misfiring in the upper rpms so I'll regapped the plugs around .035and do something to stiffen up the motor mounts

2nd run
60-ft 2.045
330 5.729
1/8 8.858
mph 77.55
1000 11.626
1/4 13.985
mph 94.08

finally did it! congratulations! you guys got some pretty good launches. What do you use for tires- streets/ DRs/ slicks? I ask because very few are able to pull 2.1-2.0 sixty foots with their street tires

How big of a shot of nitrous do you have?

I believe a 75 shot. Looks like that fpr is really messing you up. As soon as you fix that fpr you will gain atleast another 2.5 mph.

Good job - feels good, doesn't it? You can gap plugs to .030 if needed, although it seems strange to have misfiring at 75-shot level.

Your 60' times are impressive, and it looks like your car is making some good power. I'm glad you got this far - now for a 13.8, right?

Nice

minorly OT but:
I was going to ask why do you need to run a apfr w/ a 75 shot but then I saw you are running a dry zex kit. I know Im a newb here but Im not a newb to performance so what I say here probably dosnt mean crap. But from my personal experience, between years at the track and watching those who have owned and used it, and my own experience with N20...ditch the Zex kit and go NX or at least go wet w/ the zex. The dry zex kit is a recipe for disaster that under performs. Please dont take any of this personally, just giving my 2 cents of experience.

it feels great but that f'ing afpr is killing me, once I get the afpr problem fixed and install some motor mount inserts and regap the plugs I will hit the track and shoot for a 13.7

No way it's not fair!!!! I've tried running some 15's on my max with some DR's and I was only running pretty much the same thing as my street tires!!! My 60 ft on the DR's were 2.25 at best! Street tires were 2.29 at best! Best time on the DR's were 14.2@98! Street tires were 14.3@99+!!!! It's not fair I tell you! How'd you get that 60 ft??? I've tried it all... 1500 - 2000 - 2500 - 3000 rpm launches. Each rpm launch was done with three different gas pedal applications. Feather the gas, low launch and then gas once it catches, etc etc... Do you think it's my stock suspension? Your ride looked dropped....

It's your technique. You just need to keep practicing at it. Some guys pull 2.1s in completely stock cars (stock suspension, normal tires).

t6378tp - congrats on 13s. Now stop going to the track with broken parts lol. Get an AFPR that works and you'll get deep into the 13s.

I run street tires at 17psi with the msd set to start spraying at 2000rpms right off the line. also I leave at idle I find this works best for me

just a pair of used firestone firehawk sh30's (225/60/15) that I bought for 44buck's mounted to a set of mazda millina rims

that honda had a vtec motor swap, headers, no a/c and gutted interior and nitrous that he claimed not to use

Oh, I didn't know that. If you want those kind of 60's without spray you'll probably need slicks

Yeah, I was quite nervous when I had to line up against that beast. I was so glad I beat him down, as he was a real pompous ***. He was looking my car up and down real arrogant like, and said you run this on the track? great feeling to beat a guy like that!

BTW, your times are very impressive. Love your Max bro!

Yeah the hell w/ people who act like that.

I was spraying at the time. I did not get the run I wanted, as I had to feather the throttle so much in the beginning with my crappy stock Turanza tires. Major traction issues.

That was a year and a half ago and the last time I have been to the track. I now have hs headers/safc 2, the IM gutting/polishing mod and Fuzion Zri tires. I want to get to the track as soon as possible to see what I can put down.....

told you those tires would not hold up to the spray, I think with some wider tires or dr's on 15" wheels it would have been a different race

did you post the vids yet

I have a nice one when I beat the s2000 and when i lost to a heavy modded 07 rsx type s(If I would have had my s4 cams and my 75 shot in it would have been a whole different story). I also have a good one of me walking a redline saturn ion until I missed third, but I still had him by about 21/2 and pulling hard until the mis shift.

The m3 was a 12 second car, so with or without good tires I had no chance same with the 11 second lightning.... btw I was only running a 65 shot.

And when I sell the max bfg drag radials 205/55zr14's will be mounted and ready. Cams will also be in there, which should get me down in the low 13's with a 75 shot.

I'll let you know when I upload the vid's(busy as $hit around the house) I probably won't be making it to the track until thursday. Got to get my 13's... I should also get alot better traction at the track with the lower psi.
