I dont know 45th time at drags ? Results for the Chariot

Event: Import Showdown Nov. 2007

Track: Masterton Motorplex
Town: Masterton, New Zealand

Track Conditions: Its not a real drag strip. (airstrip) so not to much traction going on at this first meet of the season. it gets better as the season progresses.

Runs in Order of the Day

- Practice:
13.631@100.94 mph (2.098) Win
13.732@3.28 mph (2.150) Win * lame timing equipment problems on mph

- Qualifing:
14.146@99.40 mph (2.303) Win
13.863@101.98 mph (2.138) Win
14.126@100.08 mph (2.329) Win

- Eliminations Round
13.855@102.96 mph (2.210) Win
13.932@102.13 mph (2.213) Win
13.807@102.92 mph (2.187) Win
13.960@102.06 mph (2.239) Lose
* gutted I got schooled at the tree Integra Type R driver .037 - me .158). Lost traction on launch, race was over after 60 feet.

- Will post up photos and vids soon !

You got a lot of solid runs. Good job! It's always nice to be able to go rounds during an event. The most rounds I've ever gone in bracket racing was 5. If I would have gone 6 rounds and won that race, I would have beat a 50+ car field with single elimination and no buy-backs. It's REALLY tough to contend in larger races that involve more than 4 or 5 rounds in order to win a race.

About how many cars were in your class?

In that race against the Accord, I heard the announcer say that your Maxima has a late model induction system. He makes it sound like it gave you 100 extra HP. lol

Yea i don't think its a real drag strip because you ran way better times then that. I think i read one of your post's a while back saying that your transmission was going out? Did you get it swaped?

no, the transmission make all kinda noise a bit hard to get in gear as well. there was a small turn out at the meet and I made runs a lot closer together and I could smell clutch. its all holding together but im not sure by how much or how much its hurting my times. on a prepped track with the setup i have now i wouldnt see anything over a 2.1 60 and as low as a 1.9. so thats really the story here on the higher et's.

yeah was a weird day for the class, one car had two bye runs ? then didnt show up for the semi finals which was a bye ? I raced and won in the semi finals. Then had to turn around and race the guy I had beaten again in the finals. This time (lane change) he got the better reaction and a .1 better 60 foot. He was driving a Honda Integra Type R. I was slowly catching him but just didnt have the power to catch him fast enough and it was over. fun race though, and he cut a great light when he needed it.

are these events run on a pro tree where all 3 yellows go at once, or is it sportsman where they go down one at a time like at test and tune?

this was the first event that we raced on a sportsmans tree in the past 3 seasons. Something happened to the equipment saturday and we had to change after the practice rounds. so we actually raced both. At the other tracks we race a sportsmans tree.

Hoosier Drag Radials (225/50/16): When leaving the track I remarked those tires didnt earn their keep out on the track. All the 60 foot times are in post #1 after et and mph.

On a prepped track im happy with them, but they were not doing any better out on an unprepped track than semi slick race tyres like toyo r888's. would take them any day over street tires though

Nice nice i love the enthusiasm you have for maximas. You plan on doing a de-k swap or a 3.5? Good luck with everything and drive safe out there i just seen a horrible accident from street racing.

yeah i drive real safe and slow these days. i have a spare vq30de-k but since its so long in the future (b4 is do a swap) i will probably just go with a 3.5L VQ. will just have to wait and see what dandymax thinks as he is getting some fantastic results from the de-k but from what i understand he has plans one day in the future to do a 3.5L swap.

Well done Ceasar - I'd be really happy with those times man. Well done!

I take it the EU and 00vi have made a difference? How much have they improved your times just out of curiosity..

well with the stock USIM I basically ran low 14's. I hit a 13.9 and then later at one of the last meets with the USIM I ran a 13.8.

Now after the OOVI swap the car runs 13's with a best of 13.53.

My highest trap speed with the USIM was 99.76 mph compared to my highest trap speed of 102.96 mph with OOVI.

On a good prepped track it would be easy to keep hitting the 13.6's over and over but we are rarely blessed with the red carpet around here. So with every launch you just dont know what will happen. But I love those days that the track is on, you hit it and you hook up everytime !

I'm not understanding this post, maybe a typo? First you say that this was the first time you ever ran on a sportsman tree, then you say that at other events you also ran on sportsman tree.

Hey Chris, good show, too bad you didn't take the whole thing but 2nd isn't bad. At least you got to race. I had planned to hit the track this past Sat but I wasn't doing that on an engine without oil pressure. This has been such a frustrating year.

BTW, my 3.5 swap is not as "future" as you think... it will happen in the new year.

First Season at Masterton Motorplex: Pro Tree
2nd Season at Masterton Motorplex: Pro Tree
3rd Season at Masterton Motorplex: Started racing on a pro tree at this meet(1st meet of the season) but something happened to the timing equipment, and raced this meet on a sportsmans tree.

Champion Dragway and Lakeside Dragway run our class on a sportsmans tree.

Question about your setup. Do you hold 3rd or do you go into 4th gear?
