5.5 auto

so after i went to the track to try at a PB this past friday, i had some really confusing numbers... my my previous best was 14.7@94 and a 2.3 60'

went this past friday and had a lil better run but times stayed the same...
2.22 60' 14.7@95... Now even with a better 60' and MPH i had no increase in ET's... someone care to explain??? my best 60' that night was a 2.19 but it was litterally right off the hwy with the car never even turned off to cool and i ran 14.9@92 but i can understand the car was probebly hot, but i let it sit for about 40mins with the hood open and it was a very cool (minimal wind flow) overcast weather, so im a tad confused... back to the drawing board this friday...

Times are confusing for me as well. My PB is 14.500 @ 95.99 mph. But last week I ran a 14.709 @ 96.2 mph.... and my 60 foot was better.... I guess somewhere mid track it lost a bit of power and then made it up again... Weird how that happens......

yea i know what you mean sometimes the 5.5 pulls hard and sometimes it just wants to skip rpms.

With my car, I have to launch at just the right rpms or it bogs badly off the line, I wonder if I should switch my Injen CAI to a short ram...???

i think all cars need to launch at the right rpm or else it will bogg or if you try too hard it will spin, its all about finding that perfect rpm to launch at... Mine boggs if i leave to early and since ive cut down my old injen and made itinto a short ram ive gained a 10th but it will still bogg hard if i dont launch at high enough rpm

Here is a serious answer...... too many things to factor. Could be you may have had so mid range loss and, although you had a better 60' and MPH you are left with the same ET.

Its the rims and the weather.....when u ran that 14.7 @ maxus it was hot as a **** and u had them lightweight 16s on......and this time u went to the track wit the heaviest oem 17s known to man....lol.....but it was a tad bit cooler

So what u should do is go back to the track wit the 16s on and i garuntee that u come back with a new pb

That's not bad, I ran my best time stock l a few years ago (time below). Mine has always been strong for stock. I finally figures out how to launch it and got some good times, we will take it along with my 370z in September once it cools off. Now that its hot I can feel a slight reduction in power in both the Max and Z

there's a lot of 16's that clear the caliper... its 15's that u gotta worry about... i think he's gonna be using some 240 wheels, ill be using some acura legend (type 2) wheels... the 00 GXE 16's would clear etc ect...

I bet the DA was higher..? That would explain it. Since you got out of the hole better you trapped better, but since the DA was higher the car just didn't pickup power like it normally would so it kinda fell on its face, but the good launch got you the little bit extra trap speed..

Wind can affect your traps quite a bit. 1 mph doesn't deserve any distress. Don't worry about it.

If you were referring to my post about the KS, I believe it was Neal that was encouraging the KS relocation. I know on my Altima, it made a difference due to the inconsistent behavior of the KS at times. You never knew on a given day how it would be running (power wise), some days it would be fine and run strong and other days, moms in minivans would nearly walk me...

^^^ i know that inconsistent feeling bro... i feel the same way ova here... luckily you would probebly beat the mini van, it would probebly left me by a couple cars on some days

Congrats on the time man! How did your tires handle the 18 psi? Is that borderline too low for street tires?

OP: what do these cars run stock? I just bought a 02 SE/Auto and am curious to see what I can do with it... I use to have a 03/6MT that I went 14.2 w/just intake and full exhaust...but i'm use to a manual; so running the auto in a fwd might be tricky.

They can go anywhere from 14.0 to 15.0 honestly..Typically mid-high 14s in an auto. Mid to low 14s in a 6spd..with a few exceptions..
