Went to Island Dragway today... eh.
Not very happy with my times but I went with a friend so I had a good time (he has an E63 AMG and his best was a 12.9 racing a modded C32 who ran a 12.8). Only my second time to the track and I think I finally got my launching down (hold revs at 2500 and slip out the clutch) and I lowered the tire pressure on my summer tires to ~22psi for the last 2 runs and they hooked pretty good.
1st run (lost to an SRT8 Challenger by .08! We were dead even in the 1/8, but I missed 3rd)
R/T - .524 60' - 2.306 1/4 - 14.620@98.69
2nd run
R/T - .293 60' - 2.377 1/4 - 14.392@100.86
3rd run
R/T - .171 60' - 2.268 1/4 - 14.316@100.45
4th run
R/T - .276 60' - 2.203 1/4 - 14.585@99.49
5th run (beat an 04 Mustang GT on DR's who pulled a 1.9 60' and ended up with a 14.573)
R/T - .174 60' - 2.248 1/4 - 14.313@100.42
Last run (best all day)
R/T - .221 60' - 2.247 1/4 - 14.258@100.45
I'm happy hitting over 100mph in the 1/4, first time that happened but with the mods I have, I think I should be pulling better times. I know I will get better with more practice but, for now, I'm going to blame these times partly on the 95 degree weather lol I really need DR's or slicks, a new MAF (this one is dying) and I think I need to get NWP's torque link. Second grinded a few times and third almost all the time (I'm sure 3rd is the syncro problem starting) but I think that will help as well. Any thoughts, comments, or advice?
EDIT: also had a code for o2 sensors for a while (headers) but I know one of the codes was for the heater core of the o2 or something like that. Are bad (or mis-reading o2's) something that could be affecting me too?

The DA for the day was 2045 so it was definatly killing your times. Your corrected time is 13.922 @ 102.934 which is still kinda slow for your mods. Better 60's and weather should help.

He lives to serve haha
So... does this tell us that if I could drive a little better and had better tires on a cooler day that I would be running faster than grand_hustle since I'm trapping what he is even though my times aren't as good?

what does that tell you for when i hit my new PB

6spds will trap higher than auto's so it doesnt necessarily means that you will post up better times, with that said, i do belive you should be posting up better times, just so you know, my traps sould be up to par with yours as before my exhaust i did 13.70@100 and just previously did 13.9@100

I'm in touch with another .org member about those I30 15" BBS rims. Now, I am looking around at slicks and it seems that the best out there are Mickey Thompson but I have no clue what size tire I would want. And I'm even more lost as to how they are sized since they're different than regular tires. I believe the BBS rims are 15x6.5 and I'm also at an even drop with my 18's so I really hope I won't need to adjust my coilovers just to fit this rim and tire combo.
I also looked at maybe a good drag radial. The Nitto NT01 seems like it would do the job by reading the description...

I just don't know how good they are and since I'm not putting down 700hp do I need a slick? Well, that's why I'm here so I can ask you guys
EDIT: Oops, the NT01 seems like it's more for the track rather than the strip. And on M/T's site, it looks like I'm gonna have a hard time finding a slick to fit on that rim.

I and many others on here prefer M&H slicks, including Jime, who has the quickest maxima in existence (he made a post with pictures of how much more the sidewalls of the M&H slick wrinkle as compared to his MT slicks). I would not buy Mickey Thompsons over M&H. M&H are better in my opinion (and my 60 times on them vs MTs prove it).
A stock maxima will benefit more from a slick than a drag radial, and the difference gets more pronounced the more power you add. If you are going for a TRACK ONLY tire, there is absolutely no reason whatsoever to get a drag radial instead of a slick. You will be faster on the slick. Period.
BTW there are 2 different I30 BBS wheels. One is either 15x6.5 or 15x7 (can't remember which) and there is one that is 15x7.5. The wider one would be better, but it's not absolutely necessary (and the 7.5" wide ones are very hard to find).

NT01 is not a drag radial, it's a road race tire as you found out.

I recently purchased some I30t 15x6.5" BBS rims from a local junk yard after reading in this thread that they will fit a 5.5 gen. Sadly, they DO NOT clear the calipers.
They do come close, so I might try grinding down the caliper a bit. If I do and it works I'll post that here with pictures.

I was able to shave down the caliper to make the rims fit.
This was taken during the shaving. You can see where the rubbing was occuring. I test fitted every single rim to make sure that they fit without any rubbing.
As of right now there is probably only a hair of clearance so before I put these on next Spring/Summer I will shave them some more to be safe.
