Drag weight?

Hey guys. Wanted to see if anyone had weights for a fully stripped 4th gen with or without cage?

Pondering prepping one for road racing and want to see what sort of weight I can expect as it will effect what sort of cage I put in as well as tires, wheels and a host of other factors.

Thanks in advance!

I'd imagine you could get it down to about 2800 lbs. I think thats around where Jime's is.

Edited for typo... I need to know about 4th gen.

I have seen sources quote 28XX lbs as stock for a base 4th gen Maxima so I am hopeful that I can get under 2600lbs with cage at race weight.

If you do a search there is a link on weight reduction and how much each part weights. You should be able to get the car down to 2500-2600lbs without driver.

Personal why not just get a 91 sentra ser if you want to stay in the nissan family

SERs are nice but are a little small and are seen as cheaty. E30s, Miatas, and other cars which have been done and are seen as a competitive advantage get lots of heat in tech as well.

As for Nissan, I will drive a tampax box if its fast. I have no worries about loyalty.

2800lbs requires very little effort. I could see 2400lbs if someone really tried.

I got my 6th gen to weigh 3000lbs with me in it. I had a lot more weight I could have taken out of it too.

2400# would be wonderful. Not sure I can do it with the full cage but its a noble goal!

Will keep folks updated!

CRX = Great chassis and blown head gaskets. If your motor holds together you will be fast.

MR2 = Odd. They work great for a while then have odd issues that take them out but it for some reason never seems to be the same issue twice. There is a team that has won on laps with one but I saw another very organized team selling theirs for 1$ at the last race I was at simply because they were fed up with it.

Some cars have very strong records and not the ones you may expect. BMW E30 and Miata are always popular with folks who want to win but hated by judges who do tech. Saturns, Volvo 240s and Neons are all pipe hitters however and don't get as much heat.

Good info! Thanks.

Sadly fuel cells are a big deal with Lemons. Must be FIA rated or similar and as such cost real coin. I will be staying with stock tank as its not toooo bad and is nice and low.

Most everything else you list (and more) will be done.

I'd say sub 2500 w/o cage is realistic. Jime's car was 2500 or so with several things left on it that you can remove, since you don't need it disguised for street use.
