I can tell you have a bad 60' from those times. Which slicks did you use (your thread shows 2 types)? Is this a drag strip only car? If it is, jack up the rear by putting in some spring spacers, that will help with your 60'. What pressure were you running in the slicks? Both of those slicks (or DRs if thats what they really are) are plenty to get you down into the 1.9-2.0 60' range. I had no issue pulling 2.0x 60's on 245 section crappy DRs, with hoosiers at the proper temp and pressure you should be able to manage 1.9s.

also, ditch the torque link brace, its a waste of money, just for show, someone will pick it up for sale on here and fully reimburse you for it. You can easily recreate the effect with an 1/8" thick, 1" wide piece of steel bent in a Z shape from the top of the passenger side to the mounting location on the body just like the torque link brace. Anybody who has a drill, sockets, and a 90* surface to bend some steel on can do this at home and the effect is more rigid than the torque link brace

i was using the 16 inch drag radials. 255 50 16, and i dropped the tire pressure down to about 13 in the front, 50 in the rear

what was your 60' anyway? You said you were at a crappy track so maybe a track that was properly prepped would be a different story. Did you feel like you got both tires spinning good in the box before going up to the line?

yea both wheels spin off the line, or whenever i drop the clutch. the track DEF didnt have good prepping, a guy blew his transmission down the track and there was still a bit of residue left, so made everyone spin like crazy!
im also gonna try dropping the tire pressure to about 10-12 lbs instead of 13-14maybe get a little more traction down low. realistically im thinking my 60ft times were about 2.2-3+++

We've all seen 12.859 @ 108.00, so yeah, traction ftl.

yeah at a 2.2 60' youre not going to get there at your power/weight level. Drop that down to a 2.0 and youre in. My last trip to the track (first trip in my new car) I was hitting 13.0 and 13.1 with 2.0x 60's. I knew I could get a 1.9x 60', adjusted my technique and with the 1.9x came 12.9s. There is almost always more in the tank if you evaluate your passes, compare them to some other passes with the same platform and see where youre missing out. FWIW in my maxima I managed 2.0x 60's on street tires so you can definitely get there on good DRs

The dude that did 12.8 was in the 13.1 -2 range with a 1.9, so need to work on that, and they should work on track prep.

The car has the mph for 12s! You just need to get it to hook!

You're lucky that you have a 5.5 gen. Get some 15" wheels and some 24.5 slicks and have at it! I didn't have it so easy and I had to run 16" wheels and dot tires.

If I can do it in a gutted 6th gen with stock manifolds and no tune you can definitely do it in a 5.5 gen.

Wow! I checked out your pics. You are gutted for sure. Is this a track only car now, or do you use it as a daily driver?

I still see a bunch of center console and dash components you can ditch to save weight, plus a lot of tar you could get out of there. Get after it!

no its a full out track car now, i took off the front bumper rebarr support today, and began finishing off the rest of the tar/sound deadnening.
im gonna get the underdrive pulley on tomorrow gonna try to get some pics in aswell.
finally got a chance to checkthe the oil was after the night atthe track and it hasent burned a drop! gonna also put that port and polished lower manifold, hopefully with the weightstripping and adding the underdrive pulley with p&p LIM might just be able to throw me into the 12's. this saturday is the last saturday to go so hopefully the weather works out and i break a 12.999 (fingers crossed)

I'm hoping you get to your goal. We're only talking 2 tenths really. With the combination of extra weight reduction, a bit more power, and better track prep you should get there.

thanks guys im really hoping so considering when i started my previous thread when i started at 13.898 people were really doubting me saying i wouldnt go over 103 MPH ETC
Finally now that most of the mods are in! obv there is always room for more but for this season i will let you guys know the results this saturday! Im considering when im at the track to take my hood off, but at the same time thinking it could slow me down what do you guys think about that

might as well remove the hood, you've already stripped the car to basically nothing.

i'd seriously look at changing your front brake setup so you can get slicks on there. it will reduce weight (rotational weight at that) and get you way more traction. hell you'd probably gain .4 seconds just from that alone.

RESULTS:
2.000 60ft
8.315 @ 86.212 - 1/8
12.837 @ 108.904 - 1/4
finnallyyy mission completed, i was consistently running 12.8-13.1
at the begining of the day when it was still light out i managed to crank out a 1.958 and 1.977 after it got cooler couldnt hook up but my mph's went up and up and up finished around 7 PM didnt get a chance for it to get cold like it does around 10 PM just before they close up. Im very confident i can probably run 12.6-7 if i could hook up!

you could possibly run like 12.4-12.5 if you get slicks on that thing and can cut a mid 1.7 60'.

and you should consider telling your video guy to turn the camera 90 degrees to get rid of those danged black bars on the sides.

I agree! Some 24.5 slicks on 15" wheels would make a huuuge difference for your car!

Definitely try to make some 15" wheels fit. I had to run FD rx7 wheels on my car because I didn't have a chance in hell of making 15" wheels fit. I had to grind the calipers a ton just to fit the 16s.

There isn't a full slick available for a 16" wheel. I ran the closest thing to it, which was the mickey thompson ET street bias play tire. It worked ok but my best 60ft was still only a 1.85 and I feel like I could have easily got into the 1.7s on a full slick such as the ET Drag.

im not sure what it weighs, in the spring i wanna bring it to the scrapyard and get it weighed just to see. im thinking between 2900-3000 lbs, thats as it sits right now, i think realistically if i stripped everything went with a racing seat instead of stock, id be around 2800lbs

I got my 6th gen down to right around 3000lbs with me in it. Still the stock seat and no cutting. It's all back together now though lol.

I think a 5th gen with lexan and cut doors/quarter panels could weigh around 2600lbs with driver, if a lot of effort was put in!
