Cold weather starting.
Cold weather starting.
I have an 88 Maxima that has recently started giving me problems with cold weather starting. It runs fine once it gets warmed up, but it will not stay running unless I sit there with my foot on the gas pedal and keep it from stalling. It usually takes about two minutes of this before it will stay running by itself.
Has any one had this experience and can any one suggest possible reasons for this to happen?
Thanks...

Yup common prob for our cars. Those things go bad I would say just about in all of our maximas. Mine is disconnected because I got the wrng connector it takes a while to start up in the morning but nothing too too bad. Right now we're trying to find a cheaper fix for right now you would need to go to the dealer and get a new one or take your chance at a junk yard.
I would also check your vacuum hoses while your at it. I had a hose crack and break off the fuel regulator. Though it didn't cause cold start issues for me, a different vacuum hose can do the same to your car.

You guys are a great resource, Thanks a load.
My RPM usually hovers just above 1000 at idle speed when its warmed up, and a bit above that when cold.
I'll look into that Air Regulator immediately and let you know how it goes.
Thanks again...
