That is great man you need to email me pronto. The 1st thing to do once you get that engine is replace all the oil seals (front crank, camshaft and rear main).

Sweet dude, do remember you will have to do a few things, change out the oil pan, the intake manifold, and you will probably have to make a front engine mount. Hopefully it will be just a drop in. Keep us posted, and for god sakes man, post some pics!

Good to hear.

As maximase86 stated, there are a few things you'll have to keep in mind. By all means, email me if you have any questions. As you know I have recently been through this so I can give some great info and some good heads up info.

I just set my buddy up with a VERY NICE 87 for $2000 CDN, has a FACTORY FRESH engine in it. Couldn't believe how nice of shape this baby is in. The 5 speed is very smooth and tight. This car is a perfect candiate for the turbo swap, I think that's why he wanted me to help him buy it. I took him for a boot last night and his eyes nearly popped out of his head. Maximus is a great crowd pleaser. The second trubo, sequentially controlled will really brighten things up.

We also have 5 300ZX manfolds that are being modified to produce an extra 40 - 50 CFM, similar to what Engloid was doing on the www.z31.com forum. I also have several stock Maxima intakes that are getting the same treatment, they are being opened right up and then resealed, this will provide a huge increase in flow through the intake.

Again dude, email me if you have any questions about your upcoming swap. Hehehehe, I can say 'been there, done that, got the t-shirt.'. Just jokes!

Dammit Q! You had me all excited n stuff. :P Oh well, at least I can say that I don't have the main engine seal leak.

KALSC, will the manifolds you doing work with the 240SX throttle body mod? Also, how much for one?

Yes.

On both the 300zx intake and the stock Maxima intake, the TB opening will be opened up to accomodate the 60mm as per the 240sx TB, no problem.

The 300zx version will be $400 USD plus a core. As for the modded Maxima intake, it will likely be about the same, maybe only $350 USD plus core.

There is quite a bit of milling involved and then all the aluminum welding. Increases cfm by about 40 - 50 cfm.

:-)

Yeah Ive seen engloids work. Man that reallly opens up the intake path. I guess you could say its like having a comparison of the 4th gens variable intakes w/o the Variable.

Yep.

One word comes to mind, WICKED!!! I am going one step further and doing that to the stock 2nd gen intakes as well for those that can't afford the turbo swap. At least this way you'll get an opened up intake that is also set to accept the 240sx TB upgrade.

Man, what I would do to get a MEVI on my car. Rodney and I's buddy iansw got one of those with his supercharger on his 97. Man it makes a lot of difference from 5k rpms and up. I think they we're getting a very good gain on HP and torque, plus they pretty much eliminate the 5k rpm power dropoff that the VQ's been known to have. Be nice if we had the 24valve heads, we could probably adapt the MEVI's that way. With this upgrade, what are you guys thinking we can gain from it? I wonder how hard it would be to custom make a VI plenum.

Re: Re: Yep.

I've actually thought about this. What needs to be done is to cut the flange off and make a custom one using the maxima's intake manifold bolt pattern. Basically if you compared the gasket between the upper and lower intakes, you can see how different they are. However it would also show you how to modify it, to work. But you have to realize that you'd need aftermarket valve springs + retainers to use those high rpms.

Well, my top end will probably need to be rebuilt. I have some valvetrain noise, those it isn't that bad, you will notice it sometimes. So if I ever did something like that, I would probably do a top-end rebuild while I'm at it. It would kick *** if we got a bunch of us together to think up how to do this and fabricate it. No sense letting all the 4th gen guys have all the fun!
