Hello people. Im bill from australia. I just bought myself a nissan maxima/bluebird. Im having trouble exactly identifying what it is. Mine is the import japanese model.. with the vg20e. Not the vg30e or turbo model. It looks exactly like that one on this thread from here in australia.. except that one is the 2lt turbo. The start of my vin code is E-PU11. i did look at the other thread about vin codes.. but none of them matched to mine. MIne is a jap model.. just personally imported here to australia, so its not an australian delivered and sold unit. Does anybody have any ideas on its year etc etc.. I have the rest of the infor written on the plate if you guys need it. Thanks.

write down what you got and well try to tell you what it is, if i would guess i would say that it was a base model or an economy one ( dased on not having a turbo for sports reasons) also it might be an engine swap because the turbo died take some pics of it for us im interested in seein it...

Thanks for the reply.. it came standard with the vg20e. i just cant find what exact specific model that it is. It says '88 model on the compliance plate.. but i dont think it is.. probably more the 86-87 model. Im assuming its the U11 model by the prefix of PU11 at the start of the vin number. It is pillarless if that means anything? It wouldnt be the top of the line as i would assume the vg20et would be the top spec. But i see it seems they also come vg30et aswell. this is the rest of the vin number.

That is exactly how it is written on the nissan plate. the australian compliance plate just has the vin number and the company who complied the car.

I'll take some pictures and add them in for you chaps to disscuss over.. see if it sparks any thoughts. thanks.

i was stationed in misawa japan(go air force) in 87 and i owned a bluebird and a nissan maxima legran and i tried to have my 86 maxima legran shipped to the u.s. for one because the steering was on the right hand side and the bluebird and the maxima were awesome, you could have one shipped to the u.s but you just have to bring it up to u.s. specs that's all
