Need help finding the trouble. we have a 87 that starts great. The trouble is sometimes it runs great and the next all it will do is idle. We have plenty of gas coming to the motor. It just don't want to pick up rpm's. What should we try next? Help please, this is my son's first car and he wants to get it going real bad. Thanks Chuck

 

I wanna say test your MAF. Where do the Rpms drop off? Or where does the car stop accelerating at what rpm?

 

Stongly agree...check the MAF...also, disconnect your AIV from the intake system...
