Suspension Mods

Hello One and All!

What suspension mods has anyone done to their Max?

What are some companies that have aftermarket parts
for the Max?

I want to upgrade the springs, polygraphite bushings,
and some KYB struts.

I also have some 16" wheels that I'm going to put on,
is there anything else that could help?

I've seen some second gens on this page that have a
front spoiler or air dam, where do I get one of these?

Thanks!
Scott

I have the KYB struts, they work great, I've definitley noticed an increase in handling performance.

Other things that would help would be lowering springs, an Addco rear sway bar, and a custom made front strut tower brace. It'll have to be custom made because no one makes them for our cars. Also, subframe connectors could help, but no one makes those yet either.

As far as the front air dam, that came as stock equipment on the SE trim level, so you could go to a junkyard and get one from there.

Sounds good C

Did you make a set of subframe connectors for your Max?

If you did, do you have any pics?

When you installed the KYB struts, did you just put the
cartridge in the rear or did you change out the casing
as well?

Thanks!

Yeah, if you want an FSTB, you can modify one for a 93-97 Altima. All you need is to bore out one of the mounting holes, and you will have to replace your egr valve with an 88 style one where the vacuum line fitting points the the driver side fender and not the firewall (if not, the bar will not clear). I'll try to get pics of mine if I can.

No, I didn't make the subframe connectors for my car. There was a company called Warpspeed that was talking about doing it but never got around to. I don't think it would be that hard to do though, if you are good with metal working and you know what to connect to what. It would certainly help stiffen up the chassis, but you don't want to make it too stiff, otherwise it could negatively affect the handling of the car.

I didn't install the struts either, I'm learning a lot about the theory of how cars work but I don't actually do the work myself. I'm a software engineer, not a mechanic.

Scott,
The KYB struts for the rear are only sold as drop in carts. As long as the spring seat and strut casing is sound (ie, no rust, and not damaged from accident, etc...), there is no reason to change the unit - it houses the rear wheel spindle...
