Rear passenger brake caliper stuck

Yeah, so i was hearing this AWEFUL scraping noise, so i took the tire off and noticed the break is stuck. I really don't know much about cars so, i'm pretty well screwed. All i know is that the break is stuck on, and wondering if there is anyone who encountered this before and knows how to fix it. heh, wishful thinking probably!
TIA

I had that problem on one side of mine, and it was the parking brake cable sticking in the housing. Jack up the car, remove the tire on the side that's dragging, and remove that bolt holding the parking brake cable bracket to the caliper. That will allow the spring on the parking brake lever to release the brakes. If the wheel now turns easily, most likely your cable is stuck. I got a replacement from the junkyard for a few bucks. It's not too hard to change. The front end is a little hard to get to because it's up inside the tunnel under the handbrake lever.
If it's still dragging after unbolting the cable, then it's probably the caliper.

Yeah, I had that problem too, but mine was the caliper, it was seizing. Anywhoo, that happened 5K miles after I just had the pads changed, so needless to say I wasn't expecting it. It ended up destroying the pad as well as the rotor. I didn't notice that it was seizing until I heard the scraping sound of metal on metal.

A rebuilt caliper should cost around $40 and you could pick up a rotor for around $25. But you'll have to do some shopping around, cause the prices vary greatly on those kinds of parts.

If loosening the parking brake cable doesn't aleve the problem, then it is your caliper. See my comment on this in the thread for car repairs.

Thanks for all the quick replies, I looked at it for quite some time, then realized that one of the (pins that go into the torque member?) was totally rusty and wasn't allowing any play, so I lubed the two up and reassembled it and had someone press the brake, (i had someone press the brake before so i could see if it moved, but it always just stuck there) anyways, this time it was moving in and out, just a bit, but seemed to do the trick. So, i replaced the pads and i'm in buisness now. Obviously i require a new rotor tho, cuz its grooved real good. But thanks for the info guys, i know, this sounds like a bandaid, which it probably is. So, i'll grab a rebuilt one later on.

Next issues are my exhaust! Lost my muffler the other day, damn thing fell RIGHT off. except for the rubber hangers holding it on. So, turns out that the muffler has been the only thing replaced (exhaust wise)on the car! I live in Canada, so when you guys quote prices, it seems really cheap..but i know it won't be anyways, i'm rambling. If anyone knows any canadian prices on exhaust or anything, hook me up!

Note that, if it's the guide pins in the torque member freezing up, then I'd recommend searching the wrecking yards, if the caliper appears to be OK. You can replace the pins with new ones from some parts houses, but the torque member is not included with a rebuilt unit, and cannot be bought after market...and since it was seizing up, there could be a problem with the torque member itself...
