Stupid Question Time...

Maybe I'm going at my car being sluggish the wrong way...

How much brake pedal does everyone's car have?

I noticed that on the 90 and 93 that I drove, the pedal
went about a third to half of the way to the floor, before
I felt good braking...

On my car, the brake pedal moves about an inch and my
car is stopping.

Maybe it's possible that the brake pedal isn't adjusted
properly???

Also, I'm still using the stock air box (at least I have
a K&N air filter), where does the air inlet get it's air
from? I know it goes into the fenderwell, but I never
followed it from there.

Thinking that might be another reason why my car is sluggish...

Not enough air coming in... heck, I don't even know if the
other end of the inlet is blocked or not.

Those of you who have put on an open air element, did you
have to make a bracket to mount the filter somewhere near
the old air box?

Thanks!
Scott

Whoops I better clarify that a little...

I meant to say... did you have to make a bracket to
mount the filter somewhere near where the old air box
used to be.

It is possible that the brakes are either out of adjustment, or something...don't limit the check to just the pedal...your parking brake could be stuck as well...

Yeah the brakes were done not too long ago by a Meineke
here in my home town.

Normally I do my own work (I don't trust anyone but myself),
but I was in a hurry and let this shop fix them.

My brakes squeal a little bit when cold, and I get a slight howl
for a split secon after I release the brakes after stopping.

The shop used the IQ pads, all new hardware, and four new
rotors.

How far do you have to push your brake pedal down before
your car stops? Like I said, mine moves about an inch and
I'm stopping, which seems a little tight to me...

Thanks!

I get almost halfway on mine. You got something really out of adjustment, or you got calipers that aren't completely releasing. It could also be the parking brake is sticking like maxwgn says. :P

Yeah, what got me to thinking (other than the other two
cars I drove going halway) was that the power brake booster
looks fairly new (nice and shinny black with a non Nissan
sticker on it).

I replaced the PB booster in a Honda that I had... first
time out I had it adjusted too tight and it made the brakes
drag...

Maybe same thing's happeneing here... I'd think the shop
would have caught that but ya just never know... like I
said, I don't trust anyone but myself when it comes to car
repairs.

Yes, go ahead and try and adjust the booster...the control rod for the booster may be misadjusted...

it basicly goes beind your corner light. take it off and you can see the end and its essentally drawing air in frombehind your headlight...its a really cramped place and if you want to take it out properly it requires (from what i saw atleast) for you to take the whole fender off....thats where i'd crap a sharp instrument and cut it out..

i was wondering can we use any aftermarket cold air intake setups on these 1st and 2nd gens or are there some specific ones better suited for our cars?

cause i'd be glad to hack my old intake out so i can properly fix my fender
