PCV Valve

PCV Valve
when I did the tune up last year, I left out the PCV valve. I don't actually know what one looks like, but if it's that thing that screws into the rear of the valve cover, near the EGR valve and water temperature sending unit, with the solid hose running to it, its rusted and has the nissan symbol stamped on it, leading me to believe it was never replaced.
would a faulty PCV valve cause my car to idle high?
also, it's time for new plugs, last year I made the mistake of using Bosch platinum-2s, not knowing that they actually SUCKED. I'm hearing that NGKs are supposed to be good. any specific kind I should get?

A PCV valve could potentially be your problem. It would probably be a good idea to replace it either way. As for plugs, I like NGK all the way myself. So go for those. Give those a try and see where you get with the idle.

Yeah, I just put NGK platinums in my Max and they work great. I also put in the NGK premium wires as well.
There are three kinds of NGK plugs, the copper ones, the platinums, and the iridiums. The iridiums are the best but they're very expensive, around $40 for all six plugs. The platinums are really good and fairly cheap at around $16 for all six plugs. Since our cars aren't performance monsters, you probably won't tell the difference between platinums and iridiums. I wouldn't bother going with copper plugs though, as they only last for around 30K miles. The platinums and iridiums should last to about 100K miles.
I got my plugs and wires at http://www.sparkplugs.com They shipped really quickly, though the shipping cost was a tad high. Their prices were great though, $38 for NGK premium wires was the best price I found on the net. They also have O2 sensors and K&N drop in air filters for $50 each in case you need those parts.

How do the NGK wires with the ferrite magnetic core compare
to spiral core wires?
Thanks!
