water useage

ok...i got my license so i've been driving out on my own some and for some reason my cars been using alot of water....it has a very small leak (like 1 drop per 5 minutes) but i'm sure that isnt helping because when the water heats up it'll escape as vapor though any little crack or seam in the lines...but it just seems to use alot...

comming back from my drivers test in grants pass (another town further down I5about 35 miles from me) i noticed my temp guage is past half way a little bit, i rember people saying halfway is normal...it doesent over heat probally because i keep adding water but its becoming a pain in the ***...so is there some sort of additive to stop the leak for a bit? because i cannot see where its comming from and i'm sure it'll help

other than that and the timing which i'll adjust soon the cars been fine...voltage has leveled out for now and i may have a glazed belt (which means cheap fix for alternator..it squeaks when i first start) so things are comming arround and then i can dothe things to the car for fun instead of maintaining...

Umm, if your cooling system is leaking, you need to find the leak and repair it. Stop leak is not a good option because those are usually temporary and they tend to screw up other components in your cooling system. Also your car is fine if the guage stays between the inner tick marks. Mine goes to the tick mark before the H, which means it runs a little warm, but it isn't overheating either. If it stays in the middle great, if it goes over it isn't the end of the world, but you may want to check that everything is in good working order.

Take a test sample of the oil and send it to Blackstone labs. Do a search to get the sample bottles, address details. If you are losing water into the oil, you have a headgasket problem.

Oh yeah, check to see if the water is dripping from the water pump....if it is, its a sign a seal has or is ready to go.
